I thought I would go for a bit of a World Cup quiz...

    1. Who won the inaugural World Cup in 1930?

    2. Which two European sides have only won one World Cup a piece?

    3. Who is the only German to ever win the "Golden Shoe"?

    4. How many goals has Ronaldo scored in the World Cup?

    5. Which player has won the World Cup the most times with his national team?

    6. Which nation has the most consecutive first round eliminations? Bonus points if you can list how many times these lovable losers have been consecutively eliminated.

    7. Which famous defender has accumulated the most minutes in the World Cup?

    Best of luck...no cheating...

    Without looking,
    1. Uruguay
    2. England, West Germany [only? I'd love for us to win ONLY one]
    3. Gerd Muller [der Bomber]
    4. Don't know if you're talking just the championship matches, or only the final tournament or all preliminary rounds -- precision, dude!! So I'll just say, several more than I have.
    5. I think it's Jarzihno
    6. Well, if they're lovable, they can't be France. I'll guess Spain.
    7. Garrincha? [sorry about the spelling]

    Thanks for the quiz.

Haha...apologies for my error. It has been a long week with the club and I am running on empty. A Red Bull or coffee is in order.

In reference to question four it is only the goals scored in the tournament itself. So from the group stage on, not qualifying matches.

Not sure how I missed the thread when I looked in there, but thanks. Well I might be crappy, but I'm damn consistent (both times 3 out of 7, frankly I'd take 3 on this one). Please tell me this is like my Statistics class that graded everything on a curve...

Always called it a "Golden Boot", but references that I looked at, for the most part, referred to it at a "Golden Shoe".

I am quite certain Mirslav Klose won the Golden Boot at the 2006 World Cup. While born in Poland, he played for Germany. If he did not win the Golden Boot last summer, who did?

You are absolutely correct Tom and apologies for overlooking that question. Miroslav Klose was the top scorer of 2006 with five goals and if I am not mistaken he scored fives goals in 2002 as well. Surprisingly enough all the goals he scored in the 2002 World Cup were with his head.

    I'll edit the answer...

Cheers mate! What would be interesting to see is if he stays on form andf plays in 2012 if he ties or breaks Ronaldo's record. I doubt it will happen, but you never know.

I honestly think he could. Klose is a poised player and doesn't rely on speed like many strikers. He instead puts himself in fantastic position, has a great ability to hold off defenders and his heading his second to none.

Bit more fond of Klose as well. Never was a big Ronaldo supporter.

I am going to post another quiz today. I'm thinking of a European Cup/Champions League quiz.
