Consumer Advice from a geezer: coffee

How many of us who like coffee even the smell of it brewing can remember how great it was.

Age modifies some memories, but I think most of us remember that.

For the last several years, we've been partial to Wlamart/Sams 'Arabica' house brand coffee, to me it is the essence of good, maybe not great, but good coffee.

This morning, realizing we were out, I ran to the store and bought folgers, and half asleep, made the mistake of picking 'classic' blend.

I dont know where they get that 'Classic' unless they were talking about 'Classically BAD'.. the sort of coffee I remember from the Navy. It is NOTHING like the Folgers I remember as a kid.

It's bitter and thin and drinking more than a cup may cause stomach irritation... and that's Classic, alright.

Except I never had that problem before.

For any of you who want to find a reasonable alternative to "Starbuck beans',
Try going to Walmart and buy their Arabica. Not cheap but pretty damn good, I realize yet again.

 

I'm looking for a decent French Vanilla Cappuccino I can make at home...

never was much of a coffee drinker, but I do enjoy a Cappuccino once in a while. To me, it's like a different version of "Hot Chocolate". I've found that Starbucks has really overpriced Cappuccino for it's flavor. $4 or $5 for about 10 ounces of mediocre overrated java. I actually prefer speedway's "hot water whipped with powder" cappuccino. It seems to have more of the flavor I'm looking for, and you can get 20 ounces for less than $1.
