Knight has already ceded possession outside the box and gave up a goal...and the season hasn't yet started.

    Haha, nicely put nevzter.

I don't believe Hyppia to be an "expensive band aid" for Fulham. Liverpool views Hyppia as a solid back up and cover for Agger and Carragher...nothing else. IMO that is a waste of his ability as he could still be a quality starter for any other side outside the big four. He has about 2-3 seasons left in him at this level. Wouldn't be a bad pick up, but I understand the criticism that is often thrown his way.

I honestly think that signing a player like Hyppia would be good. Whether he is asking a lot in wage demands or not, we need experience at the back. I am NOT comfortable picking up two inexperienced Coca-Cola Championship defenders and throwing them to the wolves of the Premiership. That is NOT my idea of improving the defense.

As T_O_M mentioned earlier, Sol Campbell had an amazing impact on Portsmouth last season. He had a calming influence in the back and was able to solidify what was a pourous defense the previous season.

Hyppia would not be here for just a year, but two and maybe three. He is a veteran that can teach our youngsters the tricks of the trade and while on the pitch he can instill confidence in the rest of the back four. I believe Hyppia still has a lot to offer and I would like to see us make a run for him.

I feel like a kid, stacking hands up the barrel of a bat for that coveted 1000th post.

I'll go Swiss on everyone and agree all the way around. I'll agree w/Don in that Hyppia is a pipedream, but also w/CT, and TofM in that it is a dream worth thinking about.

Zat, Zat, Zat for the love of all that's holy why????? Ok I know depth and w/a longer term contract he could be easier to move, but we better add someone else post haste.

Expensive band-aids are exactly what we need. We have help on the way in players like Zakuani, Omozusi, Briggs, etc., but we need to improve our defense for this season. Hyypia would immediately become our best central defender, and his experience and leadership would rub off on everyone else. Who knows, it might even make a player out of Zat Knight.

Last season, our best defensive performances came when Ian Pearce was playing. He's not our most skilled defender, but his experience seems to have a positive effect on the entire back line. I think Hyypia would do the same, but his football skills make him even more useful.

There's a rumor going around that Barcelona are looking to offload Rafa Marquez after a lackluster season. Probably too rich for our blood, and I despise him and his ugly pony tail, but he's known for being a good distributor out of the back.

    Just saying.

JMH would probably cost Fulham the as much as they pay their entire backline and more...Worth a notice though. Wasn't aware that Barca were that disappointed in him.

I'll agree with most of the last 12 posts, that we need a defender now (especially a CB) and we can't afford to wait another year or two to gamble on youth.

With regards to Zat, I believe in two more years he'll be due a testimonial after he finishes his career! I refuse to slag off a guy who has been wearing the black and white for so long and its not his fault he got a new contract! He did improve under sanchez and lets hope he makes a good back up for us.

With that said, I really rate this kid Omozusi. I saw him in a few reserve games and the match vs. Wycombe and he was impressive. One for the future no doubt.

Fulham have just offered 4 million ppounds for Wigan's Henri Camara-and awaiting a reply.
A rumour is going round that Diop goes the other way.

Mike, he had what 2-3 games under LS? You were there, so I couldn't see the remarkable turnaround in Zat's performance. There have been a few guys wearing the black and white for a while that haven't performed. I HOPE he ends up as a last resort back up to some new signing that LS pulls out of his hat in the next week or two................ :D

I hope LS is keeping his cards close because Wigan are going after Koumas hard apparently.........

All I want is a stong defence this season. I HATE pulling on my Fulham kit and watching goal after goal leak though our poor defense,

I am really curious what kind of wages David Nugent is asking for. He is valued at 6 million pounds. While that seems a high price, I think it is a price we could perhaps afford. I rate him much higher than Henri Camara, Diomansy Kamara and other strikers we have been linked with this summer.

I think Nugent will be a success in the Premiership. It would be nice if we could get him, but he is probably out of our price range unfortunately.

As of now I rate Nugent and Kamara at the same level. For me, they both seem ready for the prem and should do well in their first season up. Nugent has an edge in youth, but Kamara has loads of pace.

If push came to shove I would actually take Kamara over Nugent...probably because Fulham could swoop for Kamara at 2-3 million quid less. Valuable funds that could be spent in defense.

Okay, maybe we're NOT so fat at right back as I've been saying all along:

As much as I'd love to see Moritz playing in the ECL, I'll be heartbroken if he leaves. I was going to push hard to have him as our second sponsored player at FFC. Good guy, good heart, good citizen.

I read that earlier today and I desperately hope it amounts to nothing. The Bhoys are fantastic and it would be a great opportunity for Volzy, but it would be a tremendous loss for Fulham. His personality is second to none and his quality on the field is fantastic IMO.

Please don't leave the Cottage Volzy. "Keep the Hoff"

If we get Gravesen for him then he can leave. All of the players Celtic would want to get rid of are decent players and would help us alot. If Diop left and we got Camara then Gravesen would fill that need right away and has already proven to be good in the Premiership.

Gravesen for Volzy....wouldn't take it. Gravesen is 31 and he doesn't have much left in the tank, IMO. He isn't a vast improvement over Davis, Brown, Diop or Bullard.

Nakamura...now we're talking. Pipe dream I know, but Volzy means a great deal to Fulham.
