For the last time this season .... LET'S GET IT STARTED!

If rumor 137 is true and MAF will want to see 3 points from this match if LS is to get the job permanently, then look for a front-line Fulham lineup.

    personnel? score?

I'm thinking we'll see (and "see" is a relative term since those of us in the states won't see anything):

    Player of the Season
    Liam - Knight - Boca - Quuu
    Routledge - Smertin - Dempsey - Davies
    McHead - Helguson

    Backup keeper
    Volzy
    Jensen
    Radz
    John

Considering the $$ per table position & coaching situation I don't think there will be too much experimentation (i.e Runstrom, etc..). Hope the team puts on a great effort for the large traveling contingent.

One enormous side benefit for the Whites clinching safety is the fact that the game is on a Sunday, and since it's Mother's Day not sure if the wifey would've been willing to cancel brunch and the family get together so I can nervously hang out in front of the laptop.

**Now that Brown & Diop are suspended I'd say Deuce and Smertin are in.

In my opinion, Brown deserved to be suspended. He clearly made a movement toward Alonso with his head and that in and of itself is uncalled for. That is not something anyone should be doing let alone the captain of your team. This will mean Brown is out of this match and the first two matches next season.

Okay, well Lawrie already has the job, so that prod to get the three points is gone. But if we lose we could drop to 17th, and that's a bit of knicker lost, so I'm assuming that we'll see a relatively full-strength side. Given suspensions to Papa and Brownie, and given that LS won't want to aggravate 3U's injury prior to off-loading him this summer, here's my lineup for Sunday:

---- Man of the Year Niemi ----

    Volzy -- Zat -- Christanval -- Liam

    Dempsey -- Smertin -- Davies -- Radz

    ------------- Brian ---- C. John ---------

Bench: Lastuvka [gone in the summer, I hope]
Boca [gone in the summer, I fear]
Jensen [gone in the summer, I'm sure]
Helguson [gone in the summer, PLEASE!]
    Bjorn [half-time replacement for Brian]

We win 1-3 -- Goals: Dempsey, John, Bjorn

If anyone can get a kitchen pass on Mothers Day, I'll be in the chatroom while listening to GJ

I thought this game was today. Woke up early for little (Dortmund-Schalke is on at least).

In any case, I'd like to see this season ended with more than 40 points, so I would hope Fulham ups their level of effort on the field and look for the win. No Diop and Brown makes things a little difficult in the midfield, but Fulham does have Davies and Smertin so it isn't as if they are completely barren there. If I were Laurie Sanchez, this is the line up I would use.

    Niemi
    Volz-Christanval-Bocanegra-Rosenior
    Dempsey-Smertin-Davies-Radzinski
McBride-Montella (or is he gone already??)

I'm not sure how Middlesbrough will approach the game, but I want Fulham to attack-attack-attack. Get an early lead and then worry more about defense.

I hope Bocanegra isn't gone, I think he's been the best defender Fulham has had this season due to his versatility. Plus, if he goes, Fulham needs get 4 new defenders than 3 (because I want Knight, Christanval, and Pearce gone - I don't "rate" them as it were)

i gotta admit, i am quite ambivalent about ls getting the gig. therefore i have no freaking clue what tomorrow will be like. i was hoping to see pembridge, elliot, and runny for sh--- and giggles, but perhaps there will be a serious approach toward the match?

i also really want to say thanks to fulham, but more importantly you guys and gals for making this past season truly special. i cant say i've been able to attach myself to a club like i have to fulham. and i really couldnt have done it without everyone here.

    so yea, thanks.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I just saw the highlights and the three goals Boro scored were just horrible defensive plays by the Fulham defense. Particularly the second and third goals when on the second center defender David Wheater was left unmarked right in front of the goal with no Fulham player within 3 yards of him.

On the third and final goal, both Zat Knight and Philippe Christanval watched Mark Viduka lose the ball, then get the ball back, weave between the two of them and score a goal. Both the defenders looked to have their feet in cement. It was an embarassment.

I am convinced that no center defenders on the Fulham books currently are Premiership quality. I think Boca should be resigned as he can play a number of positions, but Zat Knight, Philippe Christanval, Ian Pearce and any others are Championship quality defenders at best. If no big changes are made this summer in this department, we WILL be in the Championship after the 2007-2008 season.

Also, of note in this match was the fact that Matthew Briggs, at 16 years and 65 days became the youngest ever player to play in a Premiership game.

I do not know mujch about Briggs other than the fact that he is a midfielder. Does anyone else have any info on this guy?

He's up from the youth development squad. He played one match with the reseres before making the bench. I think he's LS's designated boy. GJ says he's a left sided defender -- CB or LB, and we can use both.

Afraid I agree with you about next season, pard. The sad thing is that we're not going to get anything better in defense then what we're already willing to dispense with. I like our potential MF next year -- Papa, Deuce, Davies, Bullard -- but the only defenders I'd keep are Liam, Boca, and Volzy. The only strikers worth keeping are Brian and Runstrom.

Getting players of that quality or better is going to cost a lot more than the 12m I hear that we can spend. Since I don't see us getting more dosh than that, and since I don't think that LS can get more out of less as well as CC did, I think we're for the drop.

I hope I'm wrong. The only comfort I draw is that I'm wrong A LOT!

glad to have you back rumstove. Niemi kept Fulham in the game for the most part, but the defensive mistakes killed any chance of Fulham getting a result--oh well, nothing new.

If this team doesn't make significant upgrades to the backline and Bullard doesn't return to his old self, then I fear for Fulham's survival next season.

Now that I have somewhat recovered from Sunday, I can go on and give my opinion.

As for the day itself, the latest Witch Report gives a great synopsis. Haven't read it yet?? Then what are you waiting for?
    http://www.fulhamusa.com/modules.php?op ... =0&thold=0

Our performance was dire, a typical Coleman away performance but to be honest it didn't worry me. I don't think Lawrie was that concerned about winning, he was more concerned about finding out what players wanted to play and which didn't. Like he said in his post-match interview, he gave some players the chance ("To show me what they've got") and they let him down. I expect some of those players to be axed/sold.

Lawrie is more concerned about sorting out next year and I believe in the last 4 weeks he found out who he is going to keep with the gaps being buys this summer.

Now lets hope for some smart summer buys...COME ON YOU WHITES!
