Cobi calls it quits

    It somehow seems fitting that the US' most famous midfielder ends his career while playing with the world's most famous midfielder. Yeah,.. some of you will argue the first point but for the average casual fan, Jones wins it hands down over Reyna or Harkes.

    At any rate, if McBride was the face of MLS soccer during the first five seasons, Cobi Jones was the heart.

    Even for those who, like me, love to hate the Gals; Jones is due his props!

    Yeah, he's not the perfect icon.. has a tendency to name drop(" ..my good friend, Juergen Klinsmann.."), but why expect others to be perfect when we arent?!


    So I'll just say 'bygones' as a tribute to him, and wish him well this, his last, season... unless he is playing the Crew.

    The Mexican players hate Cobi, and that makes him OK by me.

    When I saw him playing for Coventry -- on Brit TV -- he did a world of good for me. He will always be the ONLY Cobi [regardless of spelling] playing in Los Angeles.

    Seriously though, he's the first player I remember growin up. Sad to see him go.
