    A=Veneuzala, Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay
    B= Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico
    C= Argentina, USA, Paraguay, Colombia

    The US open June 28th vs Argentina. Really good test, hopefully we respond.

    Group B looks easily the strongest, seeing that 3 of four teams advanced beyond the groups at the world cup, well A is easily the weakest or the three.

    Wow, this should be interesting. My next door neighbor in my apartment complex is Colombian. If he is not in clouds or in the "green room" as he always seems to be, should make for an interesting evening when these two teams square off.

    Tough groups, B & C.

    But it's not like we do not have experience being in tough groups in cup competitions.

    I like the US being in a tough group and in a tough location, they need to grow some...

    Hate to open w/Argentina, much preferred to play them last. Glad we're playing quality opponents in hostile environment. Hopefully, we'll play with a loose "got nothing to lose" attitude, because the pressure on the other 3 squads NOT to lose to us down there will be enormous.

    Well, a tourney right after Gold Cup in another country against the best South America has to offer.

    I think Gold Cup is a lot more important that Copa America, so sending more a "B" squad to see how those Americans with not a lot of international experience can understand the joy of non-friendly crowds and stronger talent.

    All the same, good luck for America. It's my understanding that the top 2 teams in both groups AND the best 2 third-place teams move on to the knockout stages. So it's possible the USA can move on.

    Possible that we move on? I'll consider it a disappointment if we don't!

    It depends what kind of squad we field but Paraguay and Colombia are very beatable teams. I'm certain we can swing at least third place in the group.

    As a relative USA soccer novice, surely the USA must expect to progress. Your much better than Colombia, and at least a point should be gained v. Paraguay.
    Good luck!!

    This will be a good test for us. I hope we respond. A good performance will help quiet the WC 06 demons and give Bradley even more respect.

    It's so good to see the USMNT actually playing against some decent competition. Is it any wonder that we're always crapping the bed in the WC ('02 notwithstanding) when we're busy playing in little JV tournaments like the CONCACAF Gold Cup? This year's opponents in our group? Trinidad & Tobago, Guatemala and El Salvador.

    Slow down, US. You don't want to pull a hammie.

    I think we should try to schedule more friendlies and qualifiers with teams like Brazil, Germany, Argentina and England, instead of playing it safe and working our frustrations out on cupcakes.

    What is it with this message board and the desire to get on a soapbox? :)
