Rivalries resume in the second oldest international fixture to still be regulally played (first being Canada vs USA at cricket).

England host Scotland at Twickenham in Rugby Union. The match forms part of the 6 nations championship and the team play for a separate trophy (the Calcutta Cup).

I shall listen to the first half of the Fulham game, before watching the rugby.

England are current world champions but are on a run of very bad results while rebuilding the team. A new coach starts his role today and we are hoping for open attacking and expansive rugby.

Given the animosity that exists between England and Scotland, and that the italian football league has just been suspended, it is fantastic that seating at the game will not be segregated, and that there is never any violence or hooliganism at the game. A fantastic advert for sport, 2 passionate sets of fans enjoying each other.

England won 42-20 in a very dominant performance. It was quite a surprise as the match was meant to be very close.

Both sets of fans behaved impecably.

I'm a little concerned about the supporters "enjoying each other," but hey, England beat somebody in something, so ... well done THOSE lads!

Ah, I see how that sounds. But after the beer that would have been drunk, even if they did want to, and I doubt it, they would be incapable.

Ahem, moving away - Next weekend sees the IRB Sevens come to San Diego (I believe that is on your side of the pond). It is a very fast version of the game, with 7 players a side on a full sized pitch. Team USA are not much cop, but the ones to watch are Fiji and Samoa.

GBFC; I certainly won't profess to know anything about rugby beyond scrums and hookers (here it's strictly played on a college campus club level). However, anytime you can hang out in San Diego and drink beer is a guaranteed good time.

I remember watching the 6 nations (it was the 5 nations when I was in Scotland in '97) matchup between England and Scotland at a pub in Aberdeen and honestly I was expected (hoping?) to see a brawl. But as GBFC mentioned, the fans were very well behaved towards each other. Depsite the absence of a fracas, it was a fantastic time. It doesn't get much better than good pub food, a nice pint of Calder's Cream Ale and England v Scotland rugby.
