Note that the outgoing Suckretary General had no hesitation blasting the host country for it's 'go it alone' actions but is feebly inept at performing the simplest police duties against a 3rd world - literally CAMEL JOCKEY- power.

Perhaps the UN is regrouping while searching for exactly the right pointed words to bring the Sudanese in line?

Maybe the UN should do more of what it seems really good at... payoffs, bribery and extortion.

Say... 50 million spread among the Sudanese irregulars, and another 200 million for the sudanese 'guvmint' officials.

The can take it out of the bloated budget for renovating NY HQ.. which Trump says is budgeted 300% over customary.

Note the one arguing against using foreign troops is socialist... and he knows damn well there's no one on the continent of Africa gonna lift a finger... except maybe Liberia or Zambia and we know how THAT would turn out.

If you think I am too harsh on this unmitigated self-important asshole failure of an ersatz international diplomat, you may be right... but something in my make-up WANTS me to see that ideals count for something in the REAL world, rather than just a force for social cynics to push against.
