It's sobering to all of us who follow one of the smaller clubs in the Premiership. It's amazing how fast a team can go from Europe to the Championship. (Not that West Ham is going down for certain, but if the season ended today--which it isn't--they'd be going down.)

The two Argentinians really unsettled this team. I am not blaming the two completely for West Ham's demise, but they have not been productive at all. I do not buy takeover talks affecting a football team. It might affect the board or the workers in the office, but not the players.

I think West Ham overachieved last season and thought this season would be similar. However, other teams have caught up with them somewhat and figured them out.

On paper, this team has loads of talent and I will be shocked if they get relegated. This team is way too good to go down. The Pardew sacking comes at a bad time for Fulham supporters as we play them twice in the next month. They will be energized and out to prove a point in the first month or so as always is the case with new managers.

Yeah, I agree Dave, there might be something to playing an extended schedule for a small team. Look at Hamburg in the Bundesliga they qualified for the Champions League last year and this year they are looking horrible and struggling to get away from relegation. Of course, their injuries didn't help, but again there might be too many games going on in Europe for some of the smaller clubs that qualify.

If my VfB Stuttgart team qualify for the Europe, I might not be as happy as I would have been.

According to the book "Fulham: The Premiership Diary", we had the same problem in our first year up, because we'd qualified for the UEFA Cup by winning the Intertoto Cup.

If we were to qualify for Europe, we'd have to add a lot of depth to the club, that's for sure. (And from what we saw at WH, it had to be the right kind of guys.)

Too bad Coleman couldn't be sacked after a 4-0 defeat.

I can only hope West Ham will only get on their high after the second time we play them. The fist one will at least be at the Cottage. Hopefully, all the chanting will keep the players confused. haha

I feel for Pardew, he was in the frame for the Fulham job when Cookie got it. He is a good manage who I think has been knee-capped by his own board. He got given two Argentinians that unsettled the side. The rumors that went around about them having to play was enough to do it. On top of that - no Argie is given an easy run in England.

If you want to sack Coleman, do it for the job he does over time, but not for one scoreline. Anyone can have a day where they loose by 4 or 5. ?Ray Lewington? once picked up manager of the month award before a 7-1 defeat to Chesterfield!

I'm ignoring the slap on my man CC, but I also feel sorry for Pardew. He seems a decent bloke and he did a great job with the Hampsters last year. I think the two Argies had EVERYTHING to do with where WH is right now. I thought he added to his squad intelligently and the two new boys destroyed all the balance and harmony he had.

But, just like over here, you're fired the day you're hired ... it's only a question of when.

I was half-expecting this to happen sooner or later. Pardew did so much for West Ham -- getting them back to the Premiership and guiding them to the FA Cup final last year -- but I guess the new chairman pressed the panic button after the team slipped into the relegation zone. Either way, I couldn't see Pardew staying with West Ham beyond the end of this season, and this was probably the best move for both sides.
