Did anyone hear what Cris Collinsworth said, from the broadcasting booth, as he saw Chad Johnson broke his receiving yardage mark?

Anyone notice how out of place Bob Costas is in doing NFL play by play?

Hear what were they saying as Cincinnati went into their 118th straight minute of unscored-on football... while the Ravens vaunted defense didnt make it through 75 minutes?

    I didnt either.
... except ESPN Sportscenter had a good package on the game highlights and my brain linked the big plays with the excellent Bengals radio commentary team

Makes me wish I hadnt taken out the Antenna Wiring... only a local tv station can carry it, NFL wont even allow game audio streaming. I get the Dayton/Columbus local stations... people 5 miles from me get the Dayton/Cincy stations.

But the Bengals are playing pretty well; considering they are playing a totally second-string O-Line with a third string center, Palmer was only sacked twice.

    And Ray Lewis didnt figure.

For you 'Bal'mer' fans, here's a comprehensive review of Ravens big plays:

    Final BLT 7 Cin 13

    Cincinnati now 7-5

I have NFL Network and saw a brief part of the game but other than checking the score now and again, I did not care all that much about it. Although, if I were a fan of one of these teams and was unable to watch the game I would not be happy.

Is NFL Network now showing Thursday games the rest of the season or was this a one-off?

Rest of season; 2 sets of fans get pissed off, per week!

But mark what I said about brain-linking.

Guys away from the radio market are out of luck, stations arent allowed to stream the audio PbP either. But those IN the market can watch the NFL site 'cast while listening to the radio guys... and when you switch immediately to Sportcenter to see highlites, it will be almost as if you watched.

    - I have a feeling the NFL Network may be calling ESPN to try to get them to cut it down some. Do they REALLY dare screw with ESPN?

NFL Network doing exclusive crap like this seems a bit dumb. By the way, Bryant Gumbel has no business being in the booth doing play-by-play. He sounds like he is doing play-by-play of a funeral.

I have the NFL Network on Wow! Cable, but they still blacked out the game in our area. Last time I checked, Columbus was not part of the Greater Cincinnati area!

Thanks. It’s good to be back. I changed jobs here at work and am currently trying to juggle both sets of responsibilities during my “transition period.” On top of that I am recovering from a nasty appendectomy that I had the morning of the OSU/Michigan game (granted, I did get to watch the game on morphine…although I would have preferred Black and Tans at the party we were going to host).

Now, things are back to normal, so I should be on more.

I agree Gumbel is boring and the score on top of the screen is too big. NFL Network has done an awful job with their two games so far this year.

I thought they transferred you to Germany, Rob!

They blacked it out because WOW didnt pay the 'live game' surcharge. Which is 2.5 times what they paid, prior.

NFL should realize this is NOT the same as FSC.... the commercials are still there and the ratings are almost guaranteed. FSC only gets part subsidy from infomercialing.

    Look familiar?
    - I know they were the Tigers before Paul Brown, but dont know if they adopted tose colors because of Paul Brown or Vice-versa.

Paul Brown put Massillon HS on the map, nationally. It was the start of his legend career. Ohio State and Miami U already HAD colors, and while the Browns were ALREADY the Browns, their colors were subject to change, and when you OWN a team, you call them whatever you want to call them...

    http://www.massillontigers.com/history.htm

As to the defense.. they maybe got tired of being called underachieving punks after San Diego took 'em to the shed. And Baltimore really 'aint all that'..

I found this on the Bengal home page.

    Cincinnati Pro Football History

In 1937, a team known as the Cincinnati Bengals was formed as a member of the American Football League. The 1937 Bengals finished with a 2-4-2 record in their first year, but the AFL folded after the season. The Bengals continued as an independent team in 1938, and in 1939 joined a new AFL, finishing in second place with a 6-2 record. But again, the league folded after the season.

Once again in 1940, another new AFL emerged, and again the Bengals joined. But that AFL suffered the fate of the two AFLs before it, folding after the 1941 season as the United States entered World World II, and the Bengals folded along with it.

Pro football returned to Cincinnati 26 years later in 1967 when Paul Brown headed an ownership group that landed an expansion franchise in the modern-era American Football League. Brown, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who founded and coached the Cleveland Browns from 1946-62, picked the name Bengals for the new team "to give it a link with past professional football in Cincinnati."

You're right, of course, I remember now.

Interesting, huh.... sorta like 'karma' how things fit together!!!!

But this is one of the few times I'll admit to being wrong.

well, i cant see where you were wrong myself
    so i'l follow up with....
in 1936 the Cincinati Bengals were formed, why did they chose the Bengal name. were there lots of Bengal tigers in the area

We was going to call ourselves the Fulham Fighting White's,
but the BGFL (British Gridiron Football League) found out and told us to change it to something more PC, the same fate went the way of the Bristol Slave Traders, who become the Bristol Bombers

I'm betting that the '36 team named it for the cat; Cincinnati Zoo has always been noted for its collection of tigers; outside shot: 'Bengal Lancers'...

Also did you know that The AFL/NFL merger was the second NFL merger since WWII?

    The first being that with the AAFC, teams were the Browns, 49'ers and Colts {I had believed for years that Steelers were AAFC, but I'm glad I looked at Wiki before I said that}

Also the 'Buffalo Bills' were an AAFC franchise but folded before or during the move... to be resurrected in the latest AFL.

Wikipedia is full of good stuff.
