BUt if we do keep the offside rule, which we will, perhaps technology could have microchips in players boots, that quickly decipher off or on side. I have to think if we can put a yellow line on the field for point football first downs, we can manage at least micro-chip boots to go with micro-chip balls.

Also bury sensors on the goal line, side lines, and touch lines.

Modern technology can end quite a bit of all this damn guessing.

The offside rule has changed constantly. It is totally unworkable at present, we used to joke about explaining the offside rule to women, now most blokes don't understand it!

I am not opposed to technology, I am extreemly worried that the referals to the video ref will increase over time.

Rugby League can refer scores to the video ref and the ref has a maxium of 1 minute to make up their mind. This is more workable. But if technology comes in, it would be for goals and penalties only. It must never be allowed to expand to other incidents.

Why didnt he bother replying on here, then?

    ;)

As to the fourth official having any influence or accountabilities... seems to me he's usually occupied with listening to one of the managers complaining about something.

One of the BETTER ideas of MLS was hooted down at the time and probably still would be... that is the use of a 1v1 shootout instead of Penalties to resolve a draw.
