Labour must eat humble pie and woo doctors and nurses

I dont understand... why doesnt NHS just vacate their contracts?

    Oh... THAT'S right.

The guvmint OWNS all this... in the interest of 'Central Planning Efficiency'.

Well, I still dont understand... after all routine appointment waiting lists are down to seven weeks.

Sounds efficient to me.. except that I would be responsioble for remembering why i made the appointment in the first place, and my memory aint what it used to be.

Mate, I've tried both systems and and to be absolutely honest I'll take the NHS any day of the week. I've seen parents left with thousands of dollars to pay in buills after the birth of a baby and a woman I know have to take second rate breast cancer treatment because her 'plan' did not cover her well enough.

The NHS is not perfect, in fact a million miles away from it. But its a level playing field and at the en dof the day, the services are there for all to use. In 29 years in the UK I found the services to be generally of a very high quality. Don't get me wrong. If I was Jimmy Bullard and needed knee surgury then I'd love the luxury of using a top notch US surgeon, but for the rest of the studff the NHS is usually fine.

The answer is probably inbetween the two systems but there is just something wrong in involving business in healthcare and education. I don't see the US leeting corporations run grade schools, do you?
