Got this off my other forum addiction. Although it doesn't really apply to this particular forum, it gave me a chuckle. Might even make my fellow muppet smile.

So, how many forum posters does it take to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

1 to move it to the Lighting section

2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section

7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

5 to flame the spell checkers

    3 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's

13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

and 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

Well, I guess this got no comment because it had nothing to do with politics, but I thought I'd emulate my evil muppet twin and respond to my own post. 8)

This follow-up is from my other site-addiction. They have folks with nothing at all to do in life:

3 who claim to be light bulb worshippers, 1 of whom is a missionary who is actually pretty cool about the dark, too

5 who say they should not be forced to be exposed to light, that they have every right to prefer darkness, and that every effort should be made to keep "light" from becoming an official government policy

1 to claim that he was once abused by light bulbers, therefore "Be Nice" doesn't apply to him

2 to remind everyone to "Be Nice," regardless of their position on bulbs and light

1 newbie who asks if it's OK to mention the price of a GE 100w frosted, and another who mentions a sale going on somewhere in Colorado from one of GE's biggest dealers

14 who reply that their local dealer has better prices and service, mentioning a great guy named Jim who apparently works at each of them

248 and counting, in 71 different threads so far, who debate whether coated bulbs, which cost a lot more, are a good deal, or if the light from them feels oily

5 to trade off-color, inside jokes about "black light"

4 to get into a heated argument over whether or not anyone should be using incandescent bulbs any more - "compact flourescents cost too dang much" "That ain't how u spell it, knit witt!" "let's see you try to dim one" "Why would I want to do that, your brain is dim enough..."

1 to close that thread, noting that it had been circling the rim long enough

9 who exchange information on the best ladder to use in bulb changing, missing the fact in the original post that the one that had burned out was in a floor lamp

23 to talk about the best possible replacement power cable and switch, 3 of whom hijack the thread to talk about bringing the cable and bulbs home in paper or plastic

49 who post in Classifieds that the bulb they're trying to sell is so fine that they are afraid to turn it on, so they are thinning the chandeliere; besides, they have an expensive custom bulb on order that will knock your eyes out

4 people who have decided to become light bulb builders themselves, and doing pretty good at it

912 who make fun of the bulbs sold on late night TV by a guy who claims to have taken lessons from Thomas Edison himself

1 to claim that it was those Republican Baptists who caused the bulb to burn out in the first place, causing that thread to be moved to the Dock immediately, where 2 people exchange 186 posts on the subject (another tries to join the conversation but is ignored)

1 spammer who posts an ad promoting his new, Miracle Bulbless Light

16 people who accurately point out the spam, none of whom thinks of mentioning it to a moderator

3 of these who wonder aloud if the rules concerning spam have changed

1 who quips that the mods must be too busy being condescendingly provincial in their views on light and the bulbs that produce it

13,947 of us who don't really care much about light bulbs one way or the other, since we get all the light we need from our computer monitors....

I'm guessing that I would probably fit in well over there.

I really did enjoy your first light bulb post (the follow up is good too).

But, I didn't want to comment on it for fear of being titled "light bulb lover" by your evil muppet twin.

    Freakin literal minded twits....
'Reply' is just a label. SOMETIMES it's for additional or related thoughts!

Perhaps I use it too much but I was weaned on internet newsgroups, {you know.. back BEFORE there was a 'web' and the rest of you thought a computer was something only geeks had?}.. there's no 'edit' on them.
