Since Pettyfog locked the Wigan chat (boo hiss!)....

What is your favourite cartoon/kids show and why?

Please be mindful that PF has already banned all H-B cartoons!

    Let's see...what I used to watch as a kid:

The Muppet Show (my all-time fav)
    Muppet Babies
    He-man
She-ra (not as much as He-man)
Batman (the old '60s re-runs, "Same Bat time, Same Bat channel")
Strawberry Shortcake (had all the figures and her doll house)
    the Carebears
snoopy or charlie brown, I prefer Snoopy.

That's all I can remember for now.

I didnt like H-B shows because the humor didnt carry well as I matured... while Warner Bros, esp Chuck Jones productions, always had sub-rosa humor content for adults. And, on a different level, so did Rocky and Friends.

Like I said, I even watched Sesame Street for the Muppets side of the equation.

I watched all these shows, Mike. But I don't remember City or Gold. I also forgot "You can't do that on Television"

Though I was a full family man at the time, I thought the ABC short breaks, 'SchoolHouse Rock' during afterschool were really clever and good.

Cities of gold was fantastic - it had once of the best songs (not as good as Jamie and the Magic Torch) and a giant flying golden condor.

Tom and Jerry was the best cartoon ever made! In college I managed to do a 15 minute speech about the show for my public speaking/speech class. My visual aids were the best in the class (I also remember doing a speech about the New Kids on the Block for the same class and the professor had to stop me because everyone was laughing too much after showing a video clip for my visual aid).

    Others I remember:
    He-man
    Transformers
    DuckTales
    Thundercats
    eh, Smurfs

    These days I watch:
    Family Guy
    Simpsons
    Tom and Jerry

Worst cartoon show ever -- BarbaPapa! I think it was a Scandinavian ripoff of the Smurfs. As part of their ongoing experiment on the effects of psychological warefare, the CIA convinced the Armed Forces Television Network to broadcast it to our troops in Europe.

    Smurfs sucked pretty much also.

Best cartoon ever? Godzilla v. Bambi [also, perhaps the shortest].

And thanks, Rummy, for actually picking a cartoon from my youth. I got ties older than mosta da restayouse!

I remember Magic Roundabout -- first show on when TV started at 5:00 p.m -- Zebedee, Dougal.

I also remember Captain Scarlett and the Mysterons. Was it Scarlett or The Thunderbirds that had the Angels? Destiny, Melody, and Rhapsody I think.
