Well, there go the ratings.... just cant understand why the World Series isnt played between the teams with the best records in both leagues.

    Damned Moneygrubber Baseball League!

We want to see the Yankees or BoSox against the Braves or Mets every year!!!!!

And why arent KC and the Marlins or Cubs relegated?

    First off, Go Tigers!

Imagine the ratings grabber that a Twins vs Brewers World Series would be. haha

Cubs can't be relegated. They're always going to be great "next season". :D

    Thanks, Rumstove, for the support.

Pettyfog, the Yankees won only two more games than the Tigers despite playing in an easier division (off year for the Redsox in the East, compared to having to play the Twins and White Sox 18 times). Since each team clinched a playoff spot well before the end of the season, it's hard to say what would happened if each team had to give its all until the final game. I'm sure the Tigers wouldn't have finnished 1-1, as they did, if they hadn't clinched a playoff spot. Them are the rules the teams agreed to before the season.

I've always thought that it was a tremendous struggle for the Yanks and Boston to have to play so many games against the mighty D-Rays, Orioles, and Blue Jays.

As for the ratings, remember how disappointed Fox was when the "Subway Series" bombed a few years back. They spent all that time trying to remember the last one; problem was, that series was the 4th time THAT YEAR that the two teams had met.

Out with interleague play; on with the unbalanced schedule; out with Florida-based teams; out with the joke of a commissioner; come on you whites! [oops; drat that sports overlap]

I was glad to see my homeboy So Taguchi playing a key role in helping St Louis win the title. I was hoping that the Cards would win (if only because of So and my dislike for all teams nicknamed the Tigers), but I wasn't confident that they actually would. Until now!

So congrats to the St Louis Cardinals, the 2006 World Series champions.
