Gee, I too believe that power held over time is inherently corrupting...
WHATEVER the political stance!

I believe that everyone is subject to the human condition... namely elitism and hubris. Some can recognize and resist it better than others.

The key point to that is when one becomes so invested in their views that they apply denial to anything that proves these views false.

But one problem with the 'Libertarian label' is the two factions inside THAT.

And the intransigence of at least one of those factions.. which, as Neal Boortz points out, would rather stay 'pure' and lose than adjust or pick best realistic option to have a chance to win.
