George Bush last night admitted that Saddam Hussein had no hand in the 9/11 terror attacks
    - Guardian 9/12/06
    What neo-conservatives were those?

And that might be news except:
No evidence to link Saddam with September 11 attacks, Bush admits
    - Guardian 9/18/03

    My reaction, here...

I never COULD understand those poll results.. but MAYBE it's because the ledes, on the issues, in almost EVERY one of the MSM news shows and articles linked the two by association?!!!
    -hmmmmm

Perhaps the 'public' remembered the pronouncements by all the leading Democrats on just how dangerous Saddam was and how we had to do something about him..

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Another interesting point in the 2003 article:
Well they've found PLENTY of 'interest', since then, but you'll have to look hard to find them... as it's only bloggers that seem to care much.

    - Over 500 old WMD, from the Iran/Iraq war and war against Kurds and Marsh Arabs, apparently misplaced or forgotten by Saddam

    - Multitudes of memo's from Saddam regime on safeguarding the core technology and documents in order to restart the programs as soon as sanctions and the no-fly embargo were lifted and the UN inspectors were out of their hair.

It should be apparent to anyone who bothers to think about Saddam and his situation that the old conniver realized his own WMD might actually be used against him, never mind the UN accidently stumbling on them, and that wouldnt be good... so the bulk of them which had been deployed were called back in secrecy.
While the protection equipment for his own troops were kept in place, remember the US finding that every OTHER Republican Guard unit had chemical suits.. new ones?

And, of course, he COULDNT then come clean to the UN... he would be leaving himself vulnerable.

But did any of you read that supposition in the press? It would have been fascinating stuff, under any other circumstances.. or a Dem administration. But it wouldnt fit the agenda in this case.

Besides, it would be too hard to follow up... might actually have to get some reporters out of the hotel bar and into the field to interview some old Saddamers.

Now Fog, you know how the dance goes. Whenever anyone questions why we're in Iraq, the president says "We didn't want this war; it was forced on us when 3,000 Americans died on 9-11." EVERY discussion of the war begins with references to 9-11 and the war on terror.

Every once in a while someone asks directly, and when they do, the president says "we never made that link." Since September 1, he's made that link every day -- even five minutes before he denied ever making that link in the same news conference.

This is an old dance, and the Neo-Cons do it very well. Some call it bait-and-switch, some call it lying. I call it business as usual.

And Conservatives hate the press because they are only 90% supportive of what the president and his administration state. They want 100% and they want blood.

    Sheesh!

Link that, Don... I've suffered through plenty of Dubya speeches... and on every one on that issue, I've heard the disclaimer of separation.

I SURELY dont have to point out what the real agenda was in Iraq... and it WASNT 'oil', I've blown that out of the water before.

    "90" percent!!!!

Now you're repeating the moonbat 'Corporate Press' mantra... just how LIBERAL are you?!!!!!!!!

Enough to advocate armed revolt like the rest* of the moonbats when the Dems dont take over Congress?

    * Now THAT was unkind... call it a kneejerk reaction whenever I mention that sponged-brained bunch commenting at Kos and DU !

I dont mean it of course, not for you.. you're just in deep denial!

which moonbats are those who advocate armed revolt?

Those who stormed the Florida recounts in 2000 to circumbent a court order?

Those who spent eight years beginning their talk shows with "XX days of America Held Hostage?"

Now, now, Fog. Don't pretend to worry about the limp-wristed bree-eating faggy liberals arming themselves with anything but injured innocence.

You and I both know very well where the brown shirts are going to come from in this country. They've already got plenty of "Gott ist mit uns" shouters on the radio and the web, they already react in unison to whatever fears and panics those voices feed them, and they'll be very happy to take to the streets the moment the forces of all that is good urge them to, and they'll be armed.

    I call it lying.

And now the President has stooped to a new low with his political pandering and attempts to re-write history in his address to the nation last night.

We should contact our representatives and have them introduce and pass a bill that prevents such a blatant hijacking of our airwaves on September 11th of any year.

You call it lying but you cant point one lie out... but it MUST be A LIE!!! because it shakes and goes against everything that makes your world view comfortable.

It's actually easier to blame everything that shakes your security on those you think you MIGHT be able to control than to admit 'there's something really evil out there'!

What history did he re-write? And the Political pandering... mentioning Iraq a part of the 'WOT'?

    It is...

It's a separate issue but in the larger scheme... otherwise why did we go to war against Germany when it was Japan attacked us?

The Brown Shirts are already here.. and they have been here.

They are legion on the campuses of America and they destroy and tear down or gag anything that deoesnt meet their view of politcally acceptable.

In Congress, they threaten to use licensing powers against any Broadcaster who might air a program unflattering to their party...

    They call themselves 'Liberal'

And if a tree falls, but there is no one there to hear it,...

I said I call it lying, because any President or administration, that is supposed to be intelligent, that claims they went to war based on such obviously faulty intelligence better be lying. The incompetence otherwise is incomprehensible. So it is one of two choices: 1) they lied, or 2) they are the biggest idiots in the history of national leaders. #1 actually provides me more comfort than #2, and in a way is a slight tip o' the hat.

Petty, you are too well read to believe that everything has been above board with this administration. Their bread and butter is fear and misinformation.

I want us going after the right enemy, not just the most convenient one. Presently, some of the enemy is where the most convenient enemy used to be in power, Iraq. But that is a creation of our own making mostly. However, I dare anyone to say Bin Laden is in Iraq. It doesn't really matter though. Extremists are training their minions in Iraq, and through a natural selection of sorts, those that survive get to go ahead with the larger plan. And it ain't Iraq!

And yes, it is considered pandering (and extremely tacky) to provide what is tantamount to a State of the Union address ticking off points of why we should support his misguided efforts in Iraq, when what he should be doing is showing a non-partisan and unified, but mournful and reflective side on just this one day!

He can say whatever the hell he wants on the 10th or the 12th, but don't be such an ass on the 11th. Just thinking about it, makes me sick. I cannot wait until that loser is out of office. I'd even take his brother over him (can't believe I typed that).

Iraq is crap. There’s no defending it at this point, at least as far as I'm concerned. Saddam Hussien absolutely posed no immediate threat to the US. Not a single WMD. This selective intelligence was ridiculous.

What pisses me off the most is it completely undermines our ability to deal with Iran, North Korea, and most importantly Afghanistan. You simply can't tell me that Iraq posed more of a threat to us than those three. Oh, since Iraq has completely undermined our ability to cope let alone capture Bin Ladin in Afghanistan he’s now irrelevant, according to Anne Coulter and p-fog anyway.

I really like to think of myself as an independent thinker. I truly do pick and chose which side I'm on depending on the issue. But this Iraq ordeal is a complete crock, there’s no other way to look at it.

Then Kennedy, Kerry and everyone else that stood and made glorious speeches, to the SAME end were lying, too.. or they are lying now!

I believe they are lying now.. or they were scaremongering blusterers then.

It MAY be an inconvenient truth to some, but that is exactly what happened and all the spin in the world and "Voted for it before I voted against it' isnt going to change the facts, in fact I suspect every one that has a brain and claims to be an independent thinker yet accuses Bush of 'lying' is indeed lying to himself.

Reread what I wrote above... when folks belief systems are threatened they go into accusation, then denial. ...and the latest 'Bush outrage' that will no longer be mentioned - Plamegate- is just a knot in the string.

Rove is not frogmarched to jail.. Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame stopped getting dinner party invites and the left is now in 'never-mind' mode. This happens OVER AND OVER

What REALLY frosts you -ADMIT IT- is that Bush is the one in office when we had 9/11, that he's the one that had the will to do somthing other than arrange negotiations and make speeces of condemnation against Saddam.

Nothing pisses a guy off more than to see someone else do what he was gonna do - when he got around to it.

Iraq was, is and, hopefully, WILL BE worth it... despite all the venom the left can puke up to encourage even more terror homicides.

    There i said it... J'accuse!

The ongoing Iraqi civil strife was aided and encouraged by the NYT and everone else that went out of their way to give the 'insurgents' press.
    -- - -- - - - - - -
And what's sad to me, is how late the subtle mind-changes to the truth are in coming.. But here is one:
    - Martin Amis, Observer {Read send in the Freud's}

Cynical emphasis on WMD.. yet the VERY SAME sentence: the intelligence agencies of every country on earth, Iraq included, believed that he had them. begs the observation! It cannot be 'cynical' if it's held as truth or even high probability can it?
How could he say that.. in fact how could Amis even dare to point out the true nature of the evil that some of us recognized the first time we read BinLaden's fatwa's? That there REALLY is an enemy out there, that they want to kill us...REALLY!
And that what brought them to that is NOT our 'taking their oil' {as if they could eat it, otherwise} or our 'propping up their despotic house of Saud {without which Bin Laden would be selling rugs on the dusty streets of Jeddah} but the very 'freedoms' in the form of hedonism that the west tolerates.

So, Amis, with the good offices of the Liberal "Observer' engages some pre-emptive spin..
Because he cannot afford to be self-righteous forever, at some point in time he must begin to recognize the truth. So, ever so cleverly and circuitously,he will let you plebians know that there is ideed a great evil out there and it might not be George Bush.

Of course that will come in dribbles and drabs so as not to confuse the little people.

Now .. how could there be a BIGGER lie than that!

There are two great mysteries I'm pondering tonight:

    1. Who will the Republicans find who is less qualified than the current occupant to run?

    2. What knots will P-Fog tie himself up in trying to defend every lame idea HE comes up with?

    1. Whoever he is will still be more qualified than the last three..ooops FOUR, Dems, exception of Clinton.

    2. Nice drive-by Don... sorry you cant follow my logic.

I know... pick something you KNOW to be opposite my view. Any singular thing.
I know... Ronnie Earle's case against Delay...and his motives for the indictment, then the Dem attempt to keep Delay's name on the ballot.

    That's good and simple, right?
    heh, ...night, bro!
