9/11 memorial stuff

heh... dont worry about it, that was nothing new.

Similar to the immediate reaction when JFK was assassinated. Including mine.. within a few hours, I was ashamed and full of remorse for my first reaction.

Especially since I had flown aircrew into Gitmo during the missile crisis and fully supported everything JFK did in response.

But it started me thinking about the World and politics.. and that was a good thing... not to mention the role of human nature in the mix.

The upshot, also, is it demonstrates that lowering the voting age to 18 was a stupid idea. 150 years ago 18 year olds were full adult with full adult responsibilites..voting age 21, but who can say that most of them are now.

 

To me it is never enough to show the programs about 9/11. This is a day I will never, ever forget and we as Americans should never forget it.

I am presently watching the rebroadcast of NBC's Today show from 9/11/01 and it is unbelieveable to watch these events unfolding again as though it was happening right now.

On my DVR I have about 40 hours of 9/11, Al Qaeda, Bin Laden shows. This event and those responsible for it interest me a lot in trying to find out the motives and how this event has completely changed the world we we live in.

It might sound strange, but I can watch these events and the special programs about this day over and over and over. I never want to forget this and I never want us as Americans, whether Democrat or Republican, to forget this day.

Watching today reminded me of the time immediately after this tragic event when the country was united and together. My how things have changed quickly in five years. I wish we could all join together again today in a bipartisan manner to get our country going in the right direction.

I was a sophmore in high school when the 911 attacks happen and when the first plane hit I was in history class of all classes.

Personally, the events of 9/11 hit pretty close to home. My family had a friend who had just entered the WTC when the first plane struck. She was fortunate enough to have the chance to run away to safety, but if she had been there even two or three minutes earlier, she might not have had the chance.

It was pretty hard to believe that yesterday was only the fifth anniversary.
