    AP Poll, Oct 1:

    1. Ohio St. (62) 5-0 1,622 1
    2. Auburn (1) 5-0 1,498 2
    3. Southern Cal 4-0 1,470 3
    4. West Virginia (2) 4-0 1,395 4
    5. Florida 5-0 1,393 5
    6. Michigan 5-0 1,342 6

Ah.. the USUAL SUSPECTS... Look, I could understand a vote for Auburn, by the Auburn Ass-kissers, as #1 if they werent just about the most chickenshit schedulers in the country.

I WAS about to note they dont even dare to schedule a MAC team, but I used my head and looked up their sched, and they DID play a MAC team... Who they beat 38-7 at home.

If they had played Toledo or Akron, we'd have heard about it.. but they scheduled BUFFALO - Which explains WHY I didnt think they played a MAC team.

My antipathy towards Auburn is confusing, even to me. I dont have anything invested in that conference.. I couldnt care less who wins it.

But, for some reason, their fans and apologists just rub me the wrong way.
In fact MOST SEC trumpers do, but Auburn is my favorite goat.

WVa... ah, I just put that down to inbreeding.

As a Michigan fan, I am happy to see them hanging around the #5-6 area. No need for them to get too much press and attention right now. There will enough of that IF they can run the table going into Columbus on November 18th. Go Blue!

you betcha! Which Penn State and which Michigan will turn up..

And Ohio State actually never stepped on their thingies all day. Dont we all know that playing any middlin' or better MAC team is dangerous?

But I NEVER heard a full Horseshoe that quiet.. it was a practice game, but even most of them are louder, was really disturbing.

NOW, though, I'm worried about Ohio State against MSU, there is nothing more dangerous than a mortally wounded dog, and the Spartans are just that. Whoever the coach is is GONE at years end, if not before, and the players are humiliated.
And Tom, if you dont think I'm right to worry.. just imagine if the Buckeyes had beaten MSU 27-0 today and Mich had them next Saturday.

Someone.. maybe Corso.. pointed out earlier that MSU sucked recruiting hind tit in the region behind Mich, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

But what about all those MAC teams that pull out of the same area.. they are well down the list from even West Va, Miami FL and Florida State.

And you dont dare take them for granted.

I'm really happy Auburn lost. Now if USC would just drop a game...

USC has been sneaking by the last few weeks. They will go down eventually. I bet Cal beats them later in the season.

Yes, they have been sneaking by lately, and finally the rankings have acknowledged it:

    1. Ohio State
    2. Florida
    3. USC
    4. Michigan
    5. W.Virginia

Florida leaps into 2nd and USC remains at 3!
Auburn dropped to 11, LSU dropped to 14, Georgia dropped to 16.
Wisconsin is ranked too (25), not that I'm a Badgers fan...I just like seeing Big 10 teams in the rankings.

Heh... I'm not one to throw USC under the bus and discount them because they just seem to squeak by.

No one who followed the Buckeyes in 2002 should do that.

And WHY NOT be a Badgers fan? On the day they might beat anybody and hasnt it been that way for a long time?

I agree with you on USC. I think they will go down before it is all said and done this season, but you just never know. I am not sure what it is about this year's USC team that makes me think they are not as good as some might say.

Meantime Zeke and his father/brother Zed are still throwing 2 first place votes to WVa.

Or maybe Sen Bobby Byrd told them to...

By the way, it makes me smile from ear to ear to see both the AP and Coaches Poll without Miami and Florida State in the Top 25. That is a rarity. But a rarity I quite enjoy!

i know most are tired of me moaning about UNC football, when basketball is around the corner....but seriously, if Carolina were to play Temple they would not have a easy go with it like all teams do.....and I hope Dook loses a game before they play the heels or Dook will get a "pick me up" from having their only win against the main rival..........

    FIRE JOHN BUNTING :x

and Tom, being in Florida it makes me a little happy to see that as well...although I went to FSU for a year I'm by no means a "die hard" fan, but do enjoy Bowden..and hope he has one decent year before he calls its quits...sad to say, but that decent year may have been in 1999! I would be over the moon if Florida in-bred Gators would be out of the top 25..so here is hoping for them to lose soon

As a UK alum, it’s not often that I can agree with a UNC alum, but I think I’ve found a common ground.

Seriously, I remember Spurrier's Gators calling a time-out with less than a minute left to play so that they could try for another touchdown (they were already winning by 50+ points at the time).

I know he's gone, but the grudge remains. We almost beat him this weekend.

I agree, Wisconsin does have decent football program. But, for some reason I never got interested in Badgers football. I don't hate the Badgers, but I'd rather watch other Big 10 teams like Ohio State, Iowa (no idea why), and Michigan.

Did everybody catch the ugly scenes between FIU and Miami last weekend? It's all the proof you need of what the Hurricanes' program is all about. Larry Coker has been on the hot seat all season, but this melee probably ends any chance he had of keeping his job next year.

Speaking of being fired... Lamar Thomas got the sack from Comcast Sports for blurting out things like "Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!" and "I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing!" on the air as the melee ensued.

The U sucks and Lamar Thomas is an idiot. Why Comcast would even hire a guy that has two domestic battery charges for beating his wife and who makes ridiculous comments like he did on Saturday is beyond me.

Miami is turing itself back into the way the team was in the 80's and early 90's of bad behaviour on and off the pitch. Someone at the University needs to be held accountable for this mess.

Dimitrious Stanley (former OSU Receiver, local Buckeye commentator), related a story on the radio today of how the Police would drop off Lamar at practices during their time together at the Miami Dolphins training camp and pick him up when he was finished because of the domestic battery charges. Quality individual!

I heard the full extent of his comments. He would not shut up about the "we must protect this house" garbage.

Lamar Thomas was on Sirius Radio a month ago and he was telling some of his wild stories(Sirius is uncensered so it fits Lamar). After hearing him on Sirius I like the guy but he's not good doing shows live on tv or regular radio, the thug in him takes over like on saturday. He also got fired doing a Tampa Bay Buccaneer pre game and post game show.
