With Brown, Diop if he stays, sometimes Volz and Boca, and hopefully Bullard back, Dempsey was going to further create a logjam in the middle. Claus has value, so while I wish he would stay, I understand why he would go.

As the Brits say, Dempsey has more pace (which means he's faster).

I haven't heard much about Danny Murphy. Anyone know anything about this?

Murphy wouldn't be a bad pickup, depending on price of course. Anyone know what his contract status is?

Davids hasn't looked that great in matches I've seen this year, and I'm afraid he's probably on the decline. He'd still be a useful player for us, but I suspect he'll be sold for more than he's worth at this point.

Murphy is a great player, but when he went from Liverpool to Charlton last year he pouted about being on a "small club." He was playing so well they were talking about reviving his England position, but then he moaned his way to Spurs where he was at a "big club" but sat on the bench.

I don't think we need that "small club/big club" crap, although we DO need that talent.

I can't imagine we're one of the clubs making an offer for Davids - we've already got about a zillion guys who can play that same role.

Seems to me, we are or should be trying to get rid of the Davids types of players. I definitely put Boa in that category, and possibly CJ and Diop.

    On the current rumor mill...

    1. Planks on offal MB talking about us getting Beattie... while the only thing a search brings up on that is Moyes says he wont let him go.

    2. No mention on Offal MB of us getting Montella from Roma {fansfc.com, clubcall} where the manager hints he WOULD let him go..

"Tribunal"??? Immigration tribunal? Certainly not contract negotiation tribunal by now, I would hope.

This report from the Times Online says Dempsey only needs a work permit It's a few paragraphs down, but it's enlightening. The transfer would be for 1.5 million pounds.

From the article, Coleman is also interested in AS Roma forward, Vincenzo Montella. He likes him quite a bit, at least.

Good news, but Fulham still needs a defender. Gooch? Someone else? Anyone with an idea?

Cookie has a little shopping list going.

Fulham boss Chris Coleman's New Year shopping list includes Everton's Simon Davies, Tottenham's Danny Murphy and Newcastle defender Titus Bramble. (The Sun)

and it continues with the rumor mill circulating this on Sunday:

Fulham are closing in on £1.5m Swedish defender Per Nilsson, who plays for Norwegian club Odd Grenland. (Sunday Mirror)

    Who is this guy?

    and CJ may be out?

Watford will make a £3.5m swoop for Fulham forward Collins John. (News of the World)

I say up it by a million and a half and they have a deal, but that is just me. We would need someone to replace him though. With all the injuries we have picked up, god forbid we get a striker on the injury list.

Per SkySports and others, Fulham is "far down the line" with 3 potential signings. 2 are Dempsey and Montella...I wonder who the third is? Someone young like Ray Jones would be nice...

Dempsey appears to be a done deal from the negotiating a contract perspective. Montella, according to many sources including Cookie, appears to be one of three genuine interests and possibly nearly done deal. So whose the third???

That leaves a CB position open, boys and girls.
