    They are...what? League 2? Fulham should beat them. I hope.

    How well did Fulham do last year?

    Fulham lost in the third round of the Carling Cup last season to West Brom 3-2 after extra time.

    The season before Fulham lost to Chelsea in the quarter-finals 2-1.

    It is hard to say how Fulham will fare in the competition. If we have not seen Bjorn Runstrom and/or Gabriel Zakuani by then, I am sure these two along with players like Michael Timlin and others will see match action for the first time this season. Usually Premiership teams field younger, less experienced teams in this competition, especially in the opening rounds.

    I would love to see Fulham play a full squad for these matches as it is an opportunity to make it into the UEFA Cup if they win it all. Often times as mentioned before, teams do not take this all that seriously and Fulham will have a genuine chance to take advantage of this.

    I think they will beat Wycombe, but after that, it all comes down to the draw and where they are playing at. COYW!!

    Op: It's so easy to underestimate lower division opponents. That's how we got Zakuani -- he and his League One cronies shut us down at the Cottage in the FA Cup.

    Well, round 3 of the Carling Cup is underway. A few -- while the matches are going on -- observations:

    1. Tim Howard is on the bench for the hated Merseyside Blue Poo vs. the Hatters. :twisted:
    2. Leeds have already gone down 0-2 in the first 40 minutes at home vs SOUTHEND! :oops:
    3. West Ham have fielded their strongest 11 against Chesterfield. :shock:

    Wish we were still in this competition. Might have gotten a shot at Europe that way!

    Yes, it would be nice to still be involved in this competition. However, I cannot get pissed about this. At the time, we were in the midst of an injury crisis and I think the league is more important than the Carling Cup.

    We have since gone on to play well in the league and moved up to 8th spot in the table.

    Of course you would like to think the newbies and youngsters in the squad could have and should have beaten Wycombe, but it was not to be.

    Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Zakauni, Bjorn, Timlin, all the greenies should have had enough to have beaten Wycombe, and we could probably have fielded them against Doncaster today [Wycombe are home] and had a decent result. I don't think Cookie picked a poor team that day; I think we just got blitzed.

    A shame. [Also a shame that the Hatters are now down 0-2 at Goodison; but they're kickin' some serious butt in the CCC!]

    Now that Fulham is out of the Carling, which team could you most stomach and begrudgingly support to win?

    Of the Prem sides, perhaps Blackburn, Watford or Villa.

    I'd pick the Hatters but they're 3 down with 26 minutes left -- man I hate it when Everton beats Luton. I'd pick Reading but they're up against Liverpool on Merseyside tomorrow.

    I'd like to see Watford do well, in this tournament. Reading is an option as well, but Watford seem to be a bit more of the gritty muckers,............ like our Guys.

    Something is not right in the water at Upton Park. If this continues, look for Pardew to get his P45 before Thanksgiving.

    I'm convinced that it's the two Argentines being added to the mix. I think Pardew had a crew he was comfortable with and the late addition messed up the squad's chi. It's going to be difficult to come back from this.

    Speaking of the Argentines, it was interesting that neither of them were in the squad today. Pardew was evidently concerned about how they'd handle a roung-and-tumble with a lower division team. Man, that means he's unsure of their ability to play in Old Blighty in the first place.

    Best news about this is that Mikey is doing cartwheels about now.

    Wet Spam is a front some kind of wierd Argentinian player transfer and club sale mixture. I have no idea exactly what, but something is rotten in Upton Park.
