I'm watching the LLWS on ESPN right now, with the Staten Island team playing. And there is a player named Chris Benedetto, any relation to you Mike?

Nothing to do with Chris Benedetto and I am sure everyone has seen this by now, but the fact that a 13-year-old child is 6-8 and 256 lbs is unreal to me. Has everyone seen this kid? If you have not, you need to look at the size of this kid. I have never seen a 13-year-old even close to this big.

Wasn't Abdul-Jabar some ridiculous height at that age? P-fog, any help here?

I've only seen that he was born 12 pounds 11 ounces, and was twenty-two and half inches. Ouch.

Has anyone else been watching the LLWS this year? There have been several really good games but two this week have been incredibly well played games. San Antonio, TX played a team from California on Monday and it was a real joy to watch but tonight's semi-final game between San Antonio and NY was even better. There were four double plays turned with the bases loaded. The young men from NY have nothing to hang their heads about because they played very well but fell just short tonight. Congratulations to the boys from San Antionio for advancing to the finals.

By the way the people from FFF need to contact the ESPN LLWS production crew for music segue advice because Katie and I have both been walking around singing,

    Walk tall,
    walk tall,
    even if you fall,
    get up

since we first heard the song.

we also got a kick out of our 5'3" #9 batter hitting a homer of California's 6'2" pitcher.

This city is very very proud of these kids.

I enjoy a major league game on occasion but I agree with you that this is completely different Martin. For me the LLWS is sport at is purest level. Talented kids playing a game they love just because they love the game.

only two things that bother me about the LLWS:

    1. The fences are too close and too short
    2. I can't stand that "PING" all the time.

Something about putting kids that young on TV sort of weirds me out. Maybe thats just me.
