I am going to rant for a minute here and rip FIFA for allowing International friendlies next week, mid-week, before the first match of the season in the Premiership. England, Germany, Scotland, Poland, France and many of the other leagues around Europe are already playing.

I am aware that Euro qualifying is coming up, but I guarantee a player or two gets hurt. I just hope it is not any Fulham players. These friendlies make no sense to me.

Agree. Seems awfully close to "go" time to be playing these games. $ is undoubtedly the motivator.

I agree with you Tom there is no reason to have national team friendlies now. But this Club America-Barcelona game was just a preseason fixture for Barcelona like every team is having.

Great game with great goals, eight of them in fact! America clearly came to play as was evident when they jumped out to a 4-1 lead in like the 75th. When Barcelona looked to be embarrassed they nailed in three straight like it was nothing. Ronaldinho is simply amazing. When you see the aerial view of the second Barca goal there are a circle of five! defenders he beats then dishes the ball off perfectly resulting in a goal. All this in front of 71,000 in Houston. Barca was gelling extremely well by the end looking like they're European Champion selves, thus I really fear for New York on Saturday

I would seriously urge anyone in the New York area to try to go to the game Saturday. How many chances are you going to get to see Ronaldinho?? muchless Eto, Messi, Deco, Pyuol, Van Brockhorst..........

I apologize for going off on a tangent, but when I see the term "International friendly" I think of country, not club. Sorry about the confusion.

I understand why European teams would want to schedule a friendly not sure about the rest of the world though( Although I believe Africa starts ACN qualifying as well). Friendlies are important especially for teams with new coaches. Don't mind the friendlies at all.
