We have just been sworn in as U.S. Citizens

Today my wife and I both took the Oath of Allegence and were sworn in as U.S Citizens.

Do I now get free membership to FulhamUSA :wink:

 

Congrats Cottager!! That is great news!! What was the test like? How many questions? My fiancee is going to be taking this test in the next year and she was wondering what to expect. Any suggestions on what she needs to study?

Hey Tom, the Interview and Test was a week or so back, but it was not too bad. You can download the questions to the test. The applicant is asked about 6 questions from a possible 96. Most are fairly straight forward. I ones to revise are who are your Senators and who the Chief Justice is. Remember these can change, so verify in the nearer the time. Memorise as many questions as possible. Like what are the 13 original States. Kids still at school will probably know most of them. The trick is to show that you have prepared for the test. Wear your best job interview clothes. Good luck to your fiancé.

Well, you can see my results at the end of this post. Normally, these results would be quite pitiful, but I'm not actually American, so I should surely get away with it this time! Any quizzes on British history?

 

Damn it!! 3/10 on the second try, and 5/10 on the third. And then there was the fourth go at gaining virtual American citizenship....

 

Ok, I came into this one thinking I'd ace it. Me of course being an American, and a history buff. But 5 out of 10? Good god, shameful.

 

I hope that you can trust me when I say i'm NOT using the internet or any sources other than my own brain (to answer these questions)...

1/ There are three that instantly come to mind- Ian Rush, Kenny Dalglish, and Stan Collymore. My head says Rush, and my heart says Dalglish- so, Don, i'm going to go for. . .Stan Collymore?!?!? It's probably some MP who migrated to the UK, with some strange foreign name, though- Milan Baros, M.P!! I still say big Stan.
2/ 80% of football fans that live in England will know that it's Derby County that used to play at the Baseball Ground.
3/ Wimbledon- now known as the MK Dons.
4/ Crystal Palace, I think.
5/ I have no idea!!!!! I'm only 21 damnit!! Aussie?
6/ I haven't been around long enough to know that, I'm afraid.

Fun website in general you can find out among other things "how American are you?", "which second language you should learn"(mine was Swedish, frankly hard to think of a more useless language to learn), "how weird are you?" and so on...

 

Cograts Cottager, so you became a U.S. citizen and I became an 'Exile'. Nice one. Katy will have to go through the process when we move back...

Ouch, and I failed the U.S. citizen test with a 6/10. DOH! Maybe I had to move to England.

 

The hardest part of my test was the write and speak a sentence in English :lol: ....and then I had an argument with the guy who was not in a happy mood about what a signature is... I seem to remember they give you what you need to know. Mostly about the constitution for me (which amendment gives women the vote, end to slavery etc).

I got 5/10 with purely guess work and no nothing about any of the questions

 

If you move to England Mike your only have to know things about India and Pakistan so dont worry too much
