Portland of USL1 formally the A-league draw Converty 1-1 and beat them in PK's.

Not a whole lot you can draw from these exhibition matches but they make for interesting thought. For those unfamiliar with USL 1, basically its all the mediocre guys of MLS who get pushed out once they get too old and are easily replaced by younger rookies or the young guys who have yet to make MLS. So in summary it’s not great. Which is why I'm surprised that the Portland Timbers could beat a middle of the road Championship side, even if they are in preseason.

I really doubt my almost in last place Minnesota Thunder could pull this off :(

Actually, in-season Portland should have beat Coventry like a drum... precisely BECAUSE they are in pre-season.

But, bottom line, doesnt mean anything about relative merit.

Bottom Line: The *former* manager of the Timbers played for Fulham and is considered by some to be a Fulham legend.

I guess Jimmy Conway has moved on...

Good for the Timbers, well done! :3d smile:

    Example:
DC beat Celtic senseless... Adu even pulled his Maradona imitation, taking the ball about 50 yards to score...and no matter how the rosters of both teams changed to adjust, the carnage just never stopped.

    And it means nothing...
