A GREAT game and after that performance by Germany, I am going to say that currently they are the favorites. Podolski looked class and Klose was superb on that second goal.

Strong, quick and efficient, that was the Germans all the way.

All Germany's Polish guys are hosses!

I am really surprised. I figured the Germans to be too much Swiss cheese at the back and not a lot of committment in the midfield. Wow! are they hot.

It is too bad for Polish fans like myself and my fiancee, who is from Poland, that Klose and Podolski do not play for Poland. The presence of those two would make a big difference.

I anticipate we will see this situation played out in the US a number of times in the next few decades. Guys immigrating here at an early age and choosing a country. It could get tense with the US-Mexico rivalry  We already see it with Adu and Gissupi Rossi of Man U. The guy grew up in New Jersey, can't even get a youth call up for Italy and yet says we won't play for the US. :x

Germany looked like they could have beaten any team today. Klose and Podolski were great. I agree with Mike saying that currently they have to be the favorites.

Welcome back FulhamUSA. The upgrade is working wonderfully.

I am not so sure about Germany being the favorites. They have looked great and have the home field advantage. However, I think their back four is a bit suspect and when challenged by Argentina on Friday, I would not be surprised to see the South Americans beat the hosts.

I still think the defending champion Brazil is the favorite. They have not looked as graceful and smooth as we are accustomed to seeing, but I think things will get sorted for them in a hurry and we will see them on top in Berlin on July 9th.
