    RE: Embarrassing

I got a lot running through my head so a lot of that might be me overreacting or might not make sense but this is just what I do...

Another thing, I don't think I have ever seen a team play backwards more than the U.S. did today. I honestly was gonna start kicking things in my house if i saw the ball go from beasley to cherundelo to gooch to pope to lewis to convey and then the same thing all the way back to beasley.

Looking back, I guess I should have saw this coming. Since the 2-0 win over Mexico during qualifing when was the last time you saw the U.S. play a great technically sound game? I really can't think of one...and the excuse after every game was 'we are trying new players out' and 'june 12th is the only game that matters'

I'm gonna give the Italy game 20 minutes. If they aren't playing with some heart and some passion to represent America then I'm gonna shut the tv off and not let the game ruin my Saturday. I know that sounds like i'm an awful fan and supporter of our national team but I don't know if anyone heard the phone call President Bush made to Arena before the game and I might not agree with a lot that Bush does but if the President of the United States called to wish my team good look and to 'give them hell' you can bet your ass i would be moving 100 miles an hour and have to be carried off in a stretcher by the end of the game. So on Saturday I don't care if we win, draw, or lose...I just want to see everyone leaving everything they have on the field with no regrets.

    Alright I think I'm done ranting :D

Right on, as well as right on about Nedved making the USMNT his personal bitch. Can you believe that ESPN2's poll for "player of the match" didn't include him in the 4? He was by far the best footballer on the pitch.

I'm with DC Heather. Let's just kick some ass and move on as the second qualifier to face ... uh ... Brazil. Then I can go and get some more Dos Equis

    USA v CZR

I didn't listen to the commentators (it's nice being able to watch a match in double time, so that I can watch all three of the day's matches and still get to sleep on time), so don't know if this point was mentioned ad nauseam:

The USA has yet to win a World Cup match in Europe.

Kinda scarey, huh? And we're ranked fifth in the world?

The Abruzzi did not look great today, either. Let's just hope that the Italians get cocky and the Americans actually learn from their mistakes, otherwise, I think I remember another WC where the USA came in dead last (now, let me see, when was it? ? ? Oh, yeah, France '98!! -- after actually doing well in USA '94, going out 1-0 to Brazil)

I don't know if you caught this little tidbit, they only mentioned about 5 or 20 ODD TIMES  But Kasey Keller has yet to win a World Cup match.

Seriously, I feel like I was watching the 2004 World Series when every freaking announcer was mentioining the Red Sox abysmal World Series record every 5 minutes.

That and the US conitunially passing the ball backwards and ESPN throwing graphics on the middle of the screen, I think I have witnessed what Hell is like. (Yes, I should be grateful that they're showing all the games, but they're testing my will to live.)

I was thinking of switching it to Spanish, but I can't remember the damn station number. UGH, NEXT TIME.

Fairly decent ESPN column, with rankings of how this guy thinks each player did:

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/st ... up&cc=5901

As such, let's hear some proposed line-ups for Italy.......

    Here is mine:

    GK: Not Keller

D: Cherundolo, Lewis, Gooch, Boca (we are missing Gibbs even more these days)

    M: Convey, Conrad, Reyna, Dempsey

    F: Johnson, McBride

Worst lame ass performance I've seen out of the US. I'm totally distraught. No imagination, drive, or heart. Worst of all it was totally and completely gutless. This team represents the United States? More like what you'd expect out of Canada or something.

Bring in the subs, conrad, ching, olsen, ect. They can do no worse. Get Landy out he's a heartless piece of over hyped sh*t. Beasley's done. He has zero confidence. Apparently its been like this at PSV for a few months.

On ESPN today they said he's unhappy with the amount of blame he's taking and that he doesn?t expect to be in the starting eleven Saturday. His career may be on a long down hill decline from here. God I hope not!

After were officially out after our 7-1 loss to Italy and 3-0 sendoff against Ghana I'll cheer for Australia. At least they have heart and guts. They represent their country and shirt well.

    Saturdays line-up.

    ------McBride----Johnson
    ---------------Wolf
    Lewis-------------------Dempsey
    --------------Olsen
    Boca--Gooch--Conrad--Cherundolo
    --------------Keller

I wouldn't mind swaping in Ching for McBride, but I don't blame Brian too much for yesterday. Convey could play again and I wouldn't mind. As for Gooch, he sucked but he?s for the future give him the experience against Italy. And no I don't blame Keller, keep him in.

I think were three and out. Please prove me wrong guys, I'm begging you. :3d crying:

I like some of your lineup, but I think I'd prefer Convey to Lewis, Reyna to Olson, and I'm afraid you have to keep Donovan. In the odd chance that we win a free kick, he's the one guy who can do good stuff with it.

I'm not sure why we'd want more MLS guys who aren't named Dempsey. I think that adding Dempsey to the right wing would cure a lot.

Like maybe, a cross into the penalty area more than once a half. And could somebody point out to Arena that, when nobody can make a cross and when McBride and Onyewu are lurking in the penalty area, that A SHORT CORNER IS A DAMN STUPID IDEA!

Sorry, I guess I was a bit more het up than I thought.

USA 1 Italy 1; USA 2 Ghana 0. We get 4 points; go out on goal difference.

[I also confidently predicted the end of Ronald Reagan's political career in 1974 when he undermined Ford and got Carter elected, so what do I know]

Other than Reyna, Cherundolo was the only one who looked like he was giving it everything. Unfortunatly hes just too small to be back there against Italy. I hate saying that being a small guy myself but size rules sports. So Albright it is.

Well perhaps put Cherundolo at RM and Dempsey behind the forwards. Stevie deserves another game and I believe he can take a decent free kick. Dempsey can play behind the forwards fine, I don't think he's a natural wing player anyhow. I don't really have an issue with Cherundolo's size.

I don't think Albright is near competent to play against Italy. I'm adamant that Landy Cakes not play, if he wants to take games off when he feels like its right for him than he can do it on the pine or in his hotel room. Better yet just send him home since he loves so-cal so much.
