    Coca-Cola help lower league clubs.

Dear All, the EPL may be one of the richest in the world due to huge sponsorship of clubs and players, and advertising revenue; however, the same does not apply to the majority of the other English league clubs. By the time you get to League 2 (The old 3rd division) many of the clubs are in debt and several have faced or are facing bankruptcy.

One such club is Stockport County, based in the Manchester region they struggle for support because of their more illustrious neighbours, but their support is no less as strong as was the support for Fulham in the bad old days where we were lucky to pull in four thousand fans to a game.
Stockport County have suffered from having a chairman with no football background who was only interested in selling the ground for profit. The Stockport County fans decided to try the club for the fans and issued shares to sell and raise enough money to save the club and run it themselves, they succeeded but it is a hard road and they need all the help they can get. Some of us fans who recognised similarities in their plight decided to buy whole or part shares, this was organised by the 'shady1' and so in some way we have managed to help a club at the very least keep their head above water.

Why is this relevant to us? Well, only eight years ago Fulham Football Club was 91st out of 92 clubs in the English leagues, Mr Fayed had not yet shown his face (and funds) and we were destined for bankruptcy and relegation into the amateur leagues. Stockport County were in an identical place (they have recently struck form and are in 21st place of 24 teams).

As part or out ongoing support for them we are all voting every day, using as many names of family members - work numbers etc., to help them win a player worth ?250,000. This scheme is being run by Coca-Cola and open to all clubs outside the premiership.

    Please help by going to:-

    www.coca-colafootball.co.uk

and vote for Stockport County, with our help they have gone from 52nd place to 16th, you may think that catching up with Leeds in top spot is impossible, but last year Brighton who were in 7th place won a player!

Please help fan power and put in your vote every day. Their fans are so appreciative of what we are doing, but to help them to achieve their dream we need global help!.

Thank you in anticipation - Ed (LBNo11)

    Stockport County Voting

...Stockport are currently in eigth position from 53rd! Brentford, (who are less than enamoured with Fulham) have steamed in and are closing fast!
Please put in your votes to help us put some distance between them.

Thanks to all of you who are voting - keep it up!
    cheers - Ed

Uh... I've tried a couple times and unless your IP is from blighty, I dont see how anyone in the states can do it.

There's no problem with a stateside IP, 'Fog. So long as the required details are registered, that's fine. Where the system does baulk is with cell 'phone numbers. If you want to register and get voting, use my UK cell 07939 902239. Nothing spoofy about that - and I'll let you know if you win anything, promise........... :3d smile:

It said I'd already voted today, probably based on the phone number. Is there another phone number I can use?

Sorry Dave, I have but one genuine number to give.... But here's a thought; if AM and Chicago Tom have been voting, they've presumably found a way round it - perhaps they can help? The problem seems to stem from the requirement for a prefix beginning 078 or 079 etc which are UK...

Mike/Tom - if you've been voting like you say you have, than you must have the shoe-in for Dave. Where is it?

I have voted some. The way around it was to put a combination of numbers in the cell phone that worked. I was not putting any specifc persons number in, but just random numbers in my head until my vote was accepted.

    Sorted

Used American Mike's number. Stockport have a long way to go. Leeds has over 100,000 more votes!

If you need a mobile phone number go to this site and search for some broad last name. http://www.mobilephoneno.com/ It will come up with a list of mobile numbers to use.

Since you don't know the person I don't know if it helps or hinders the chances of winning for the club. :?:
