I thought the deal was done, but Leacock is back as his Swansea deal fell through after "the two clubs and the player failed to agree all relevant terms of the contract." This seems to be an ongoing trend with players (not just Fulham) lately.

Just saw on Sky Sports news that Quedrue is at Fulham having a medical with Charlton making a possible last minute bid for the highly rated left back.

Its also been heard that we could be in for the Centerback Jaidi from Bolton...not sure about him but as I hear his salary is low, he might be worth aquiring.

Looking at our coming and goings cannot but think our situation is status quo for yet another year, we have pretty much made a straight swop with Bullard coming in for Steed, the other two guys of note I know nothing about and can only think they are ordinary at best, earlier posts have us with around 4 million pounds to spend plus what CC will get for Steed which at the moment looks like zero. So all we have to look forward to is another year chasing away from releagtion and CC giving us the usual speech about our first priority is to avoid relegation. With this in mind I am going to go against the obvious sentiment of most fans and say CC will be forced eventually to use Steed if he does not sell him before the start of the new season, I therefore propose he uses him at the start of the season, loyalty is a thing of the past both in every day life and certainly in football is a thing of the past, if CC had an offer from a bigger club and more money do think he would stay, I will agree there are better ways to do things but Steed is only doing what pretty much everyone else does and that is looking after number one, so once you get that out of the way why would you not use a resource as good as Steed, because in some peoples minds he as become a traitor to the cause as his abilties and skills lessened any, I would say Steed playing in a midfield will flourish with a player like Bullard cleaning up for him and releasing him to do his thing, of course if Fulham can get a fair price for him and a player of like ability coming in thats good business sense, or even a youngster with prospects that would make sense. But I really believe around 5 or 6 games in there will be a cry to use him anyway why not use him from word go, its not like his going to play badly on purpose after all that does his reputation no good at all.

I think they have given up on Zesh, not Leacock.

Jaidi is good, but he's lost a step or two and didn't really deliver for Bolton.

I'm still hoping for Quedrue and, shhh -- you know who

    Or Tunisa............

Not really what I had in mind, but if he's a bargin perhaps it would be a good deal. Quedrue would be good stuff. Ian Dowie better not steal him from us

From an article about Coleman in the Guardian http://football.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,,1826559,00.html?gusrc=rss

Anyone know who CC is scouting in Russia?

Also, according to Skysports, we are one of several clubs looking at Charlton's Hermann Hreirdarsson. He's a good defender, and you can never have enough HH's!

    Cheers,
    Martin

My Dad called me yesterday, and told me that he sat next to one of Cookie's best friends, Alan Smith. He told him that Coleman was going to Russia to look at a Latvian player. If it's not the truth, then blame Alan Smith!! (I have no idea which Alan Smith it was, though).

I really wonder how truthful this is. So thats two players now that the swans sent back? Odd to say the least.

I really hope Charlton doesn't pip Queudrue from us. If he is indeed getting a medical at Fulham wouldn't that mean he is pretty much a 90% done deal?
I don't know the inner workings of transfers so if someone would like to clue me in I would be all ears! :D

Not sure about Hermann. He's a decent player, but he is 32. I want players that will be at the club for a long time or they better be world class if we're gonna buy players in their early 30's. Jaidi is rubbish as well and is getting up there in age. I'm not sure why teams are scared of Gooch. I mean in the EPL you can be physical and get away with it. I dont think hes the next Boumsong and he doesnt make the stupid mistakes that Boumsong makes. Hes gonna be a star and would only cost around 3M. He learns from his mistakes as well.

Fulham are prepared to let Steed Malbranque stay in the reserves all season if he refuses to sign a new deal. (News of the World, Daily Star Sunday)

Good. Fulham may yet have Steed (or more importantly, his agent) realize that he is not nearly as hot a commodity as he thinks he is. If we can get the $ we are looking for, let him walk. If he wants to come back and sign for 2 + years, well then the prodigal Steed will most likely be welcomed back. And then, what a midfield!

Now get to work on the D, Cookie!

In response to Jacob's question, this is what happens during a player's transfer:

The club's manager/chief executive/chairmanOnce a fee is agreed between the two clubs, the player travels to his potential new club, and discusses a new contract. The club will offer the basic deal first, with the basic wage and length of contract, then bonuses, followed by any clauses that the selling club wanted them to put in the contract. Once the contract is agreed, the player will verbally agree to sign the deal, and have a medical. Medicals in the first class leagues in England pretty much take a whole morning and afternoon (I don't know what a medical involves). Once the medical is complete, the player will sign the contract, and the selling club wil transfer the player's registration over to his new club. That's all that goes on during player transfers- and of course, if the player hasn't got a European passpost, he'll have to apply for a work permit.

Good and bad news for Fulham supporters:

Petrov may be back in the mix
That might solve two problems; send Steed up there... it's European Football he wants, right?

    But in the same piece:
    Argghhhh!

I think Quedrue would be a great, great signing!! I have liked this guy for quite some time at Boro and in my opinion would be the best signing of the summer for us. He is a great defender and can overlap well on the left. I just hope no other team gets in the way of this move. My fingers are crossed that this signing goes through.
