If CC can get CJ to understand striker defending, then Fulham wont miss Brian too much when he leaves.

Wish Brian would take CJ aside and point out Cunningham's difficulties... I know I keep harping on that but it's a situation McBride knows, firsthand.

I just wish Collins would lose the attitude. Whether it be last season when he was not playing as much or this summer in Columbus, he just comes across as a player with a bad attitude that thinks he is much better than he really is.

None of us would say he does not have talent, but talent alone does not get you very far in the Premiership or other big European leagues. Collins needs to learn from the likes of Helguson and McBride who are not super talented, but they work harder than anyone else on the pitch to help their team.

Collins seems to be out for himself and could care less about the team. He might come out in the press and say he cares about the team and this and that, but actions speak louder than words people. All he cares about is getting playing time and scoring goals for his own glory.

He is still young and has time to learn, but unless he learns quickly, we may not see the end product in a Fulham uniform.

Petty, I think it is a valid point. I seem to recall that Jeff was often quoted in the Crew Press Guides as wanting his legacy to be that he brought the team an MLS Cup. Granted, he never did, but he often seemed to be basking in his own glory at times. It would appear that he still is, seeing as he is with his third team in as many years. I know there were several factors in each trade, but, in my opinion, he scored too many goals for the Rapids last season to be shipped off to Salt Lake City.

I think CJ is the future whether it be thru goal scoring or following after BMcB.

I do however realize that he's young... has plenty to learn, and in this day and age he could get injured and not be eligible for his next big pay day... this is why maturity is needed to be a EPL god.

CJ will snap out of it when we win more games, so he can see what a team effort brings about.

I dunno. John is young and impetuous, I'll grant that. And he's got talent to spare, and it's showed in his appearances this year. He's been with the club two years-ish now, right? With all of the level-headed veterans on this team, if he was going to learn some modesty I figure he ought to have learned it by now.

I would also pick a fight here with ChicagoTom; McBride is not super talented you say? ;)

I think he is a talented player, but if you look at strikers in the Premiership, I do not think he would be one that stands out as a must have for any team. He is great in the air, he works hard and plays 100% every game which is something you cannot say about all professional players. However, when it comes to the amount of talent he has, his ceiling is not as high as a lot of other strikers. Whether those other strikers reach their potential is another question in and of itself.

I am not ripping on Brian at all, I am happy to have him at Fulham, but looking at the bigger picture, he is an average to above average striker.

    I agree...McBride's NEVER been 'super-talented!'

But he makes up for his lack of innate quick-twitch skills with the ability to see what's going on and respond to it... ergo, plays through his brain.
In fact, he has always done as he does, now.

And sorta reminds one of Pete Rose... without the 'off-field' self absorbed self-destruct behavior... an intelligent 'Pete Rose', then.

To put a point on C. John's similarity to Jeff C.

Jeff got fewer and fewer starts, with the Crew, as he seemed more valuable as a 70 minute sub. He complained about this but couldnt see for himself that if he started, he tended to act and play as if the goals would come automatic.
    - and he ALMOST NEVER tracked back to defend or dispossess.

With Colorado he began as regular starter but by end of season was a 70 minute, despite being on the MLS goals leaderboard.

Now we HAVE to assume he never watched tape with a dispassionate eye... if he did, he might have noticed his team went missing a man, when the ball turned over!

Perhaps CJ has the same tunnel vision when watching the games.

Petty, that's some excellent comparative analysis, there.

And Tom, I was just kidding. McBride may be my favorite player, but I've got no illusions about his talent. :)
