    This Transfer Window

I have a better feeling about this transfer window than I have in any other January transfer window to date.

Fonte seems like an interesting acquisition...like Volz...

    Benefica Quote: Fonte

Here is another interesting quote from Benefica:

"We have yet to finalise the deal with Fulham which will see the player join them for six months. The agreement should be concluded later this afternoon."

Reinforcements are good. It will be interesting to see how much Fonte plays. He is only 21 or 22. Thus, he does not have a lot of experience. I hope he works out well for us.

It sounds like Benefica is loaning him out to get him playing time, so I'm guessing Fulham has given some level of assurances that he'll play.

I'm glad we have been busy in the transfer window. Yet more depth to the squad. I'm really interested in seeing how much playing time he gets as well.

To be honest with you, I am not too upset about this deal falling through. He is a 22-year-old with little to no experience and has had a hard time finding first team football. Therefore, I was not convinced that moving to arguably the best league in the world was going to be a good move for Fulham. He would have added some much needed depth, but if Fulham were making a deal with Benfica where he had to play a certain number of games or something, then I am not for it. You never know the finer details of these loan moves.

You are probably right. Even with the major depth problems Fulham has at the moment, you can' t get desperate. It is also only January 6th. I'm sure we can find some quality for the back in the next 3 weeks.

First Benefica officially confirmed that Fonte was having a medical at Fulham then Fulham say he couldn't train for various reasons. Hmmm....

Sounds like he failed his medical and Fulham doesn't want to mess up Benefica from trying to get him to go somewhere else.

Failed Medical, another injured player is the last thing we need.

I'll have a pint of what you're drinking!

This January window will be as poor as any we have seen and unless the injury fairy blesses us ( or shits on someone below us) then we'll be struggling in a relegation battle until the last game of the season.

We've already started off by signing an over-aged journeyman to follow up the second rate summer signings of Elrich, HH and Warner. I know I'll take stick for saying HH is second rate, but the truth is that he IS and he'll never be a CJ or BmcB. As for Warner, yes he stepped into the breach, but in the Premiership he is a back-up goalie at best.

Now we have signed Elliot - that's dire - and there does not appear to be much better on the horizon. Given the mystery absense of Drogbny, it will take the signing of someone like Niemi to change my mood, and let's just spend the 2 million and sign bloody No23 too. If we cannot muster up 1 million for a keeper and 2 million for a starting midfielder, then things are as bad as I think.

Sorry to piss on anyone's parade, but sit tight and buckle up for a relegation battle over the next few months. Its going to be a rough one.
