I'd like to see John get the start, as Radz seems to have lost a step or two. He has had several chances on counter-attacks (including two at Columbus? Correct me if I'm wrong), but has yet to score. I'd rather see John, who is more creative, with HH ready to come off the bench.

the first team is kind of perfect right now. it'll be nice to have leggy and pembro and zesh on the bench, but as far as starting 11's go, this team is something special.

Well, it certainly didnt turn out as hoped.

However.. we certainly had chances...and to play the devil's advocate, Wet Spam certainly didnt play like a champs team./.. and how many of you were unfamiliar with the names of their players on the commentary?

    Nuff said.

And we'll find out in the next few weeks how comparatively poor we were compared to them.
If WH crash and burn, then we were poor... if they continue on this run, then all sorts of questions arise.

Meantime I thought it interesting that Christenval replaced Knight instead of Boca.

Boca was already in the game, unless you mean he should have switched positions. It was a great match to watch but very aggravating in the second half. The first WH goal was an all too typical Knight hack job - out of position falling down, giving Harewood an easy shot. The second WH goal was a little freaky. Boa scored a spectacular goal but hung on to the ball too much in the first half. Radz was awful but CJ didn't do much better when he came on - may be time to try Helguson. Defense struggled against WH's speed, especially in the second half. But of course I wouldn't be writing any of this if they had finished the two fabulous opportunities they had in the beginning - could have easily been 2-0 game over. From Cookie's comments, he was ok with their performance but they need points and they won't be easy to come by against Spurs and ManU.

Or it might have been a sublime piece of skill and a clinical finish by an on form striker but why give an opposing player any credit eh? after all you were all so confident west ham were overrated, the monday night game was an anomoly and the three points were in the bag! The second goal may have been fortuitous but the first goal was class.

best of luck against the spuds next week.

    Up the Irons!!

so you don't think that Reo coker should have been sent off then franklyn and the ref 'missed' quite a few imortant calls in our favour then?

    I was at the game.

Zat Knight needs to be shot.
Graham Poll, the ref, needs to be shot.
The entire Riverside stand who were constantly taunted by WHam fans, and did nothing back need to be shot.
Reo Coker needs to be shot because hes a dirty git.

    :)

And yes... go play with traffic, that goal wasn't class... It was Zat Knight making a Knight-Mare of himself again.

I thought our midfield was clearly outplayed on Saturday. We did not contrl much possesion and when we did it was through the wings not the center of the park. Credit to Red-Coker and Mullens for taking Papa and Claus out of their games.

We did have some chances though and could have at least earned a draw. Zat's flop on the first Harewood goal was embarassing.

We started very well and looked good for the first 15-20 minutes. After that, West Ham seemed to settle down and find their game. We did not play horrendously, but we just did not play as good as we needed to to win.

We were never out of the game and that is something that is nice about this team. Last season if we went down a goal you got the sense we were done. This year though, we have a fight and committment in this squad and they play hard for the entire match. That is a credit to Colemand the rest of the coaching staff. If we can eliminate some of the mistakes and continue to play with this kind of passion we will get some good results this season.

And for the record, West Ham is a very strong team. They are a dangerous team and will cause problems for a good number of other clubs in the league.

I posted this on the official site today and just wondering what you guys think of it all:

I will admit always criticise Knight but I actually gave him praise and his performances against Everton and Newcastle.
However once again he has confirmed to me that he is not premiership quality and should be sold immediately. In my opinion- Boca, Goma and Christanval are all better options and I would even prefer to see Ian Pearce in the team to Knight!!!

Warner after a good start is beginning to show he isn't good enough and his kicking is poor and can't catch the ball to save his life- he will make a costly error sooner rather than later.

Volz I thought wasn't bad going forward but he was poor defensively again. I think that maybe he should be played as a right midfielder if he continues to show lack of defensive abilities.

Steed was our best player and I can't believe how some people are criticising his performance and saying he should be dropped. I would play him in the centre.

It is questionable having Boa Morte as captain.

Then there are our strikers- yet again McBride shows more effort than anyone else on the pitch and was even back defending in the final few minutes! He must be in the first team and we must now find the right partner for him.
Radzinski has had his chance and has failed to impress and I honestly can't see John developing into anything more than an average player and his attitiude is terrible. Don't know why he came on because he isn't really going to change the game for you- we had better options.
I think that we should have bought on Helguson when we were 2-0 down. Many people say that McBride and Helguson will not work together but I think they could and think that this was the perfect opportunity to try it out- we had nothing to lose. I also think it was a good chance to see what Elrich could do- Jensen was not doing anything in the second half and should have been replaced by Elrich.

I have always thought that Coleman was the right man for the job and he should stay but now I think it is time for him to leave and to get a fresh face in- we have Tottenham, Manure, Liverpool and Charlton next in which I can't see us picking up anymore than 2 points- if we are lucky.
