Bush names a professional to replace him; Paulison Bio.

Hey, I thought ALL the new FEMA section heads were crony hacks... that's what Randi Rhodes said, so it MUST be true, right?

Speaking of which.. "national coordinator for the Arabian Horse shows"?!!!

You know that sounded funny..I mean if THAT was what he did, that's nothing at all... and a LOT of jobs like that are 'hobbyist' type slots.

Here's a scrape of his FEMA bio:
That is STILL pretty thin... but judging from the post quotes above, he must have fit the ribbon clerk management mold pretty well.

Ooopps! Take it BACK, Randi.. SOME of them surely are!
Here's the guy Sen Nelson.. {may his house blow away, though noone hurt, and he forgot to pay his insurance } was referring to..

Ayup! Hack... that who you need running recovery and funds disbursement.. a lobbyist with a Poli-Sci degree.

    - very thin, political appointee

    - iffy, but not necessarily unfit for the job

The rest of the bunch are either not involved in operations or are career.

    UPDATE!

Wrong!!! Buikema is probably the NEXT one whose head will roll!

Joe Scarborough on PmsNbc JUST freakin' went OFF on the people he met on the ground while he was helping with his own relief effort.

Of course, the arrogant a-holes he ran across surely werent told to act like territorial bi!chiz but that is what being recounted time and time again. Those are, I ASSUME, career FEMA folks, NOT appointees.

And Buikema is directly responsible for them and their actions.

FEMA IS a mess and the whole thing will be reorganized dam soon, you can betcha!

Hopefully this time the Senate will do their jobs and do a little background checks to ensure that the new person is qualified...(Brown was appointed unanimously).

Well, much as I would love to point fingers at the Dems who championed that last re-org... it is simply a matter of removing the politics from the day-day.
And putting a real professional in charge who can remember what the purpose of the Org is, in the first place.

Note that the complaints are actually about the FEMA boots on the ground types. Those reflect the attitude of a Federal Bureaucracy and that is what needs changed.

Nope... we're getting the guy who scared all of D.C. into stocking up on duct tape and plastic sheeting...

Although, according to Bush today, he's not sure that we're actually prepared for another terrorist attack... a whole DHS and billions of dollars later and we're not prepared? Worst. President. Ever.
