So it turns out that Palmeiro tested positive back in May and through appeals has just now been suspended.

From a source, I've got (who was a day early on Palmeiro and a 3 or 4 days early on the Mazilli thing), there are 30 players right now with appeals for steroids violations. Including "a future hall of fame pitcher"

Not going to speculate, but with this long appeal process, the hammer is going to drop pretty soon on a lot of players.

I can't wait! Who do you think the pitcher is? Clemens? I hope not.

Has anything come of the perjury allegations from the Senate Hearings, where he told them he never used steroids?

I really doubt that Palmeiro will be charged with purjury. The steroids he tested positive for were taken after the March 17th hearing, and there isn't a way they can prove that he took them before that.

As far as the pitcher, the talk generally revolves around clemens and johnson and kevin brown.

I really hope its not true and a bunch of minor players, but ESPN radio apparently reported it too and so did the boston globe, I'll see if i can track it down.

I'd wish this on no other baseball fan what the people in B'more have had to deal with recently.

Well, they said it was unlikely to be a member of the Red Sox, so that's good. Maybe a Yankee?

I've been a Red Sox fan since my first game at Fenwway, when I was six years old, so no it doesn't. :D

    Hell no...O's fan

Recently its been more about hating the yanks and sawks than really liking your own team...there's not much to like about the O's these days

Understandable...New Englanders are all doom and gloom when their teams are losing, but when they win they are insufferable. Thank god I didn't live there long enough to pick up those traits.

there's plenty of brand new red sox fans in DC, just assumed you were one of them. I live 45 minutes from b'more and know more red sox and yankee fans than O's fans

There are a lot of us northern transplants, so not all of them are bandwagon fans.

A lot are...most don't even know the starting lineup when you ask them. they still think pedro is on the team.

I can no longer talk smack though...the O's stink after being in first for a long time.

I hope Schilling tests positive...that would be really funny to me actually

That's funny, I'm surprised the word didn't get out to them that Petey was no longer there. I'm glad he's gone, but I kinda miss his goofball, prima donna antics. If Manny leaves, I don't know what the Boston media will do?

He does like his name in papers, but I don't think he'd like the bad publicity.

They're generally dumb girls that just like the hat and saying that they're sawks fans.

And i'm sure Schilling could bloviate enough for the Boston media to forget about Manny. He can talk about his sock, the messiah and how great George Bush is.
