With the retirement of Sandra Day O'Connor today, Dubya gets his first shot at appointing a nominee to the Supreme Court...

I can only envision the hours of debate that we'll spend on this... I'm sure pettyfog has already got a 1,000 word post waiting ;)

In the long run, there's no one that this administration could appoint that will satisfy me... but that's the perils of being in the minority... I do think Edward Prado would make for a good pick the conservatives would be happy with and the liberals would at least tolerate. He's a bit to the right of O'Connor, but still moderate enough to serve as a swing vote on cases.

I do love that Alberto "Torture Memo" Gonzales is being mentioned. That's just the message we want to send to the world...

Oh... What was it he wrote in that torture memo that has you upset?

And since the "rest of the World" seems to think the UN is doing a 'peachy keen' job.. maybe we shouldnt GIVE a flip what they think!
