Coldplay hype

I am a big coldplay fan but the hype surrounding their new album is too vast in this man's humble opinion. I am sure it is a great record but it seems critics talk them up like they are rocks savior when they are just a solid British pop band.

However, any removal from American Idol type stuff is welcome.

With that said I am very excited about the new Coldplay album, I just wish the hype was turned down a notch.

Coldplay are a quality band and i like the new song speed of sound. It angered me when i heard that little wa*ker crazy frog beat the song to the number 1 in the charts. How can a ring tone even be classed as a song? Even more importantly, how can anyone go and buy this so called song?

I am currently listening to the new album and, if you like coldplay, you will most likely love the album.

Its exactly what I expected from them...same sound and same rhythm. Good stuff thus far....

 

I like the single, "Speed of Sound" as well as Track 4, "Fix You," Track 3, "White Shadows," as well as some others. As Mike said, it is very reminiscient of their previous two records. That being said, that is a good thing for this band.

 

They did a live gig on BBC radio 1 the other night and were replaying the songs all day yesterday while i was driving to clients...they were really good...i'm enjoying what i've heard so far from the new album!

I agree with JohnnyCash. If you like them you'll love the album. But so much for the "big departure" Chris M. said it would be after A Rush...

Ok...that was just an evil thing to do without warning! I think that is more of an earwig than a typical Wham! tune.

The album took a few listens to grow on me. I was a little disappointed on the first listen because I, too, was awaiting for the "great departure." I really enjoyed their previous work, so it really was only a matter of time before I liked the album.

BTW, they premiered a VH1 Storytellers for the band last week. I thought if was a pretty good set, given the compressed format.
