Norwich: 'packed' stands...away fans

maybe this will sound a bit naive....but, i was just curious why so many canaries were at the cottage?

the figure i heard, i believe, was 7k. this couldn't possibly be the normal allotment for away sides. i know cc doesn't always sell out....did norwich supporters numbers get swelled b/c there were still tons of tix available when they officially hit the streets after being offered to all the tiers of fulham support/membership?

Uh.... this is a bad topic for either you or I to be commenting on.

The attendance for MLS is awful to the point of being worrying! I started out laughing Chiv-ass poor attendance, but quickly shut up when I saw how the rest were drawing.

I can understand the Crew being off - we SUCK- but for the Revs.. the way they are playing?!!!!!

 

The usualy allotment of tickets to the away supporters is well below 7000. However, from what I have gathered, a lot of Fulham fans were selling their tickets to Norwich City supporters for a decent chunk of change as the Canary fans thought this would be a historic day in the club's history, when in turn, it was a black eye for them gettng drubbed 6-0.

I do not know exactly the number of tickets the away support usually gets. I do think that when the tickets did go on general sale, the ticket office unknowingly was selling tickets to away supporters without checking any kind of credentials to warrant sitting in the home stands. This is all just my opinion of it all. I have read a little and heard from some locals about this whole thing.

Hello, I have a generic question.....how many away tickets are allotted for each home match?


btw, i think the revs will be doing a bit better in attendance than for the first 3 home games (not incl. freddy-pa-looza last week, 13k+). crap, the media blitz is on and every paper and tv station is doing bits on the team. we're getting 3 mid-week write-ups in the globe as opposed to the standard 1. today, globe ran a front sports page (color pics) expanded bio piece on dempsey, for instance.

anyway, the f.o. mismanaged this fanbase by treating them more like nfl fans than minor lg sports fans. made it a real hassle for families (their admitted demographic) to get in, get out, and afford it. after 3 years of being told by us that it's gonna cost them....they finally hit rock bottom and have instituted changes this year. it's what happens when you c.o.o. is a pat's guy.

I think I recall the figure varying depending on circumstances... The 7000 would be inclusive of ALL the 'neutral stands', would it not?

deep roster....good drafting....committed to defense
wrongly, the leagues fans (including crew fans) as far back as 3 yrs ago, labeled the revs boring b/c of supposed 'defensive' posture. however, they've always been among the league's top scoring teams. but, finally, the revs are scoring first, holding their composure defensively, and are manned by the types of players that can counterattack effectively while the other team is chasing.

....hmmm, sounds like a team/game i seem to remember, hmm about 5 days ago!


good thing we let that stiff murphy go.

think he'll be the next coach?

Yeah... WITH Murph, a 19 game unbeaten streak, 5 losses on the season; WITHOUT him... with the Polish sausage again in charge of the practice field.. disarray and 5 losses before june.

I dont care if all Murph did was stand there quietly, that's a cut above 'loyalty' to former player who had no concept of 'team play' even when he wore the kit.

you know...i overheard a person behind me in the seats over the last season (whom i think is a friend of murph) bad mouth nicol and say things like this guy can't relate to american players, doesn't know how to run a decent practice and can't pick out talent w/o murphy.

now, i don't think anyone can argue with the draft picks we've had over the this season and last and the record speaks for itself. meanwhile, murph is yet again languishing w/clavijo...this time out in colorado. i think it's guessing at best where to assign praise or blame within any given season.

anyway, hoping to make the trip down to clb for the all-star game....perhaps we'll bump into each other.

Now here is something I can comment on since I attended. The Canaries probably had about 5,000 fans at the cottage all decked out in yellow...bascially they had all of the Putney end as well as all of the neutral section that was next to the Putney end. They also had fans scattered through out the other 'Neutral' sections. Their fans were unbelievable with the party atmosphere and they sang the entire game...either because they wanted their team to win or they knew that they wouldn't see premiership football in a while!!!

I didn't like the fact they overtook us on atmosphere, I got quite offended but the fact we trouced them made it all the better. It was very intense coming out of the match and going into the streets of Fulham where all the Canary fans and Fulham fans met. Some Norwich fan, with his son mind you, even crossed my path and said, "fuckin' lucky". I just gave a long, polite "Yeeeaahhh, Riiiiight".

Now they can all drink Coke for all I care.

Just to set the record straight as well, our fans were tremendous and came out with some really good banter and chants like, "Alllwaayys, Coca Cola" or "EASY, EASY, EASY, EASY". Or , You're going down!!

in addition, 'agents' sold tickets in the home ends to the away fans...they couldn't give a monkeys who sits where, as long as they sell the tickets and get their money....hence there being canaries in hammy end, riversideZZZzzz, and Stevenage Road.

 

I saw something on FSC that had the Chairwoman of Norwich City "exhorting" the faithful at half time of one of their contests ... Seems like the old dear was three sheets to the wind. Can't fault her spirit. As the beautiful game gets more and more corporate it was kind of refreshing to see someone in the "organization" acting like they really cared.

 

I can tell you I was at the Fulham - Norwich game from last season...

And I'll tell you what their fans are by far the best fans I have seen. All it was was a sea of yellow.

We were 6-0 up and they were chanting "Shall we sing a song for you"!!!

We all gave em a round of applause at the end... they were that damn good.
