I was hoping for some quotes confirming his role with the club next season... alas, they are not to be found. But you've gotta think after the way they closed out the season he'd be dying to come back and start a full season...

Before the end of the season series, Brian was on pace to ask out of the club AFTER the AllStar game, contract or no.

Now it is truly up to him. He is self motivated, has proved he can contribute - long or short term (ref his loan spells at PNE and Everton)- and he MAY wish to retire gracefully to Chicago or he may stay.

In fact the final decision is PROBABLY up to his wife, Dina. I suspect SHE is the reason he is in London, not Portsmouth...



Because of the family factor and wanting to be near extended family in Chicago, I can prognosticate that the next season will be his last in England, no matter the outcome.

Brian has soldiered dutifully for years, now he gets his own way, career-wise. Note that his transfer fee was GREATLY reduced between his Everton stint and Fulham signing.
This was a reward from MLS for the years he put in at lowly Columbus while being a poster-boy for the league.
