it is halftime and it is 1-1. Once again we are showing heart, grit and determination to pull the match level. I think the secnd half is goiong to see us a get a few chances on the counter attack.

Unfortunately, Zat Knight sounds like he had a shaky match so far. I think he was at fault for the Morientes goal and such. We will see. I am confident going into the second half. An early goal would do us well!!!

If we can just withstand the first 10-15 minutes...you never know!

Well, the 8 match unbeaten run is over. I do not understand how Coleman can sit back in the 4-5-1 with 20 minutes to go and we are trasiling by 2 goals. Can someone justify that to me? Also, he subbed nobody on. I thought he should have brought McBride on and went to the 4-4-2.

I was hoping for a draw and it did not happen. Now we have to get geared up for Derby next weekend in the FA Cup.

The best defense is to keep the ball at the other end.
    -but-
Frankly, I no longer believe in switching to 4-4-2 in-game.

Empirically it seems to me the team is dumbed down and doesnt understand what it means, meaning how CC wants them to execute it.

I dunno... but it's obvious that most on the banter-drone dont either.

What further puzzles me is Cookie complains about the defense.. AGAIN.. well if he cant make the team get the defense right, then doesnt that raise further issue?

Coleman always says the defense does bad but, keeps the same players in defense.if the defense is that bad then change some things. Put Boca in Central defense. Let Goma start. Also if Fulham arent chanlleging to at least try to get back into the match Coleman should put John or Mcbride in the game. They were 3-1 down with like 12 minutes plus stoppage time.At least try and get a result.

Petty, what specifically makes you favor the 4-5-1? What about the 4-4-2 bothers you?

There are times to play the 4-5-1, but down two goals with 20 to go is not one of them is it? And why would Cookie not make any subs at all today? I was puzzled by that.

    today

I have no problem with CC playing a 4-5-1 against Liverpool at Anfield, I have a major problem playing the same line up against teams we play at the Cottage and especially teams who are under us. Fulham this season are part of the also rans, anyone watching the top teams cannot but realize the gulf there is between them and the likes of the Fulhams and Villas, when the top teams teams come down the field you feel something might happen when Fulham do you just hope. If CC plays 4-5-1 against derby next week I will be very upset, you are giving the opponents hope, a 4-5-1 is by nature defensive, it says we have not got the personnel to take the game to you but we are going to let you come at us and we will counter attack you and hope to get a break, you can play it with a forward of pace and class, and I will admit Cole as done better than i thought he would this season, but he just aint it, Saha was and still is for Man U. I think CC was told by the board this season what you see is what you got, try and survive and he is right now just doing that, we are living in cuckoo land if we think we can compete against the top teams, we cannot, Fulham have done what they needed to do to survive beat the teams below them. I think this season its going to take a lot less points to stay up than normal and as a Fulham man I am very grateful for that, a few weeks ago i went thru the games left and come up with 44 pts, but 35 will probably be enough this season, Norwich have 20 pts now, they have only won two games all season so far, so i think thats beyond them. So all that is left for us is a good cup run until we meet a Chelsea or Man U, we can beat derby next week if we go for it, and the draw as not been kind to us for Bolton have started to play again and will be very tough to break down away from home, but we can beat them on a good day. But having followed fulham for as many years as i have, today was all to predictable.

All in all, I have to say that I didn't expect a point from this match...but I was really hoping. Here's to another run at 8 unbeaten!

I would greatly PREFER 4-4-2... IF the players knew for sure what CC wanted them to do; my take on it is that CC doesnt get his ideas on attack across to the players in terms they can understand and USE.

In fact, the formation used is secondary to how you employ it.

This is illustrated by some people wanting to see Cole and John paired up front which only causes me to sigh, wondering what it is they see that I cant visualize in my head.

I DO understand why CC doesnt start with McBride and Cole... which mid are you going to leave out? There some real talent in the Mid... but their playing characteristics sort of hog-tie the options.

For a team that is supposed to have a lot of talent in the midfield, they do not do that great of a job. Their passing is horrid, and they give no decent balls to the striker or strikers and they do not get back well either.

There are a few midfielders that could be left out if Fulham were to go to a 4-4-2. Pembridge, Radzinksi and perhaps even Clark.

I would like to see Cole and McBride up front. I would also like to see Radz perhaps go up front some. He could potentially do well up there.

All in all, if the 4-5-1 is what CC wants to play then fine, but once again, I do not understand why he stuck with it down 2 goals with 20 minutes to play. And also, he subbed nobody in. That baffles me some.

It will bother me though if we play the 4-5-1 Saturday against Derby.
