It is the Mariners. They went out and signed 2 great players(Beltre and Sexson). That was what they needed the Mariners had no hitting last season. Still they need some pitching. The Mets did well. But, Beltran might of been too much money. Martinez can only go 7 then does horrible in the last 2 innings.Delgado could be a great player for the Marlins. So who did have the best off-season?

Marlins getting Delgado is huge, no sure if they upgraded their pitching at all.

NYY spent some money as always but not sure if they did well overall. Johnson is getting old.

Funny as it sounds I think Arizona and Seattle did well, Detroit improved as well.

What, did they shoot Bobby Higginson in the face? Because they sure as heck didn't sign anybody other than an 80 year old closer. You know that your offseason isn't very good when you go into the next season with the same opening day lineup as you did the year before...

The Mets overpaid to try and beat out Philly as the third place team in the NL East... they spent too much money on a great offensive force and a broken down ace, with no concern for the bottom half of the rotation, let alone bullpen.

Definately have to go with the Marlins, they have the best lineup 1-9 that I've seen outside of New York in a few years - and Leiter/Willis/Burnett/Beckett is a better 1-4 starting rotation than any other team in the NL East. If they just had a bit more in the pen I'd say pencil them in for the pennant right now.

I think Atlanta did alright, they only added Hudson but they had a good starting rotation anyway. Don't forget the red sox.

Arizona had a good winter, but they're still not going anywhere in their division anytime soon, but they're set up for a few years from now.

Red Sox did well in getting Renteria, their starting pitching moves are kind of risky.

If Clemente and Miller can adjust to the AL and Boomer stays healthy it might pay off.

The Reds had a big off-season signing 6 new players. They have bolstered their starting rotation with Ortiz and Milton, added strength and depth to the bullpen with Weathers, Weber and Mercker and solved the 3rd base problem with Joe Randa. They have one of the best outfields with Griffey, Dunn, Pena, and Kearns all going for three spots. They are in the toughest division in Baseball with the Cards, Cubs and Astros, but I think they will be the surprise team this year.

I think the Cards, Cubs and Astros all are a little bit weaker this year than last year. The Brewers have made some good improvements too. I'd fully expect the NL Central to be a toss up this year.

If the Wood and Prior don't get injured then the Cubs would probably be favorites even without Alou and Sosa. but I can easily see the Reds sneaking in...just look at their first half of the season last year.

I think the Devil Rays had a great offseason! I mean I can't even get in to the number of new players on Lou Piniella's squad.

Tropicana Field is gonna be hopping like a rabbit Snoop Dogg stlye this season. The Yanks and Red Sox better watch out. Sweet Lou is on the move!!

I think Sweet Lou is going to enjoy Kazmir the young pitcher they got from the Mets last year. Other than that, they will be either last place in the AL East or second from last. I don't see Toronot being much better.

Sorry who did they sign? They have a few good young players, and I like what Lou is doing, they still are a few seasons away from contending, if ever. I just think NYY and Boston will always have the deep pockets, much like Chelsea does, to continue to entice and afford signing the top players.

They signed no one I am aware of. I was kidding. The Devil Rays will still stink.

The Cubs have had the best off-season in getting rid of ole corked bat. A disease like him is terrible for a team, even if he hits 40+ homers.

Do the Mets have any chance of play-offs this year?

I would say no, but that is just me. Sorry Johnny, but I think the Mets are just spending bad money on players ala the Baltimore Orioles of the late 90's. Perhaps it will bay off in the Big Apple, but I am not seeing it to tell you the truth.
