Media bias

Any Fulham supporter knows this to be true, and even us Fulham fans in the US know it only to well, Fulham are always last to appear and hardly ever get a mention. Reading the BBC report on the game it was highlighted once again, they reported it was not a very good game, Blah blah blah, but at the end of the report it said a result that leaves both teams perilously close to the relegation zone, that might well be the case, but will we hear the same terms mentioned if Newcastle lose today, they will only be 1 pt ahead of us, Pompey are 1 behind, Bolton +2 A villa +3 Man city +3 and the mighty Spurs +4 will we hear how close these teams are to the relegation zone. We are now closer to Liverpool than we are Southampton, and our games might be dull I have to admit last weeks against WBA was bad, but if you look at our wins Palace go and crush Sprus, Southampton beat Liverpool and WBA beat Man City, and little old watford only lost to Liverpool 1 - 0, we beat them 2 - 0. No its a fact of life the media dont like Fulham and theres one set of rules for reporting our games and another set for most of the other clubs.

 

As I bloviated on the Fulham ChatRoom, i believe this reflects the perception of the Brit Fan, as much as of the Media.

I believe the knowledgable US SPORTS fan, on the other hand, loves the underdog, or "OverAchiever" and you also see that in the media... where I think the traits are better received.

That WILL not stop the fan-carping, however... All you have to do is look at my Columbus Crew; which went from bottom in 2003 to the top of the table in 2004 and a 19 game unbeaten streak and where the manager is almost universally despised.

Only the media gives him a break.
