What players do you think Fulham should look to bring in during the January Transfer Window? Any Coca-Cola Championship players you have seen that might help the squad?

To be honest, and realistic the signings we should make are...

    a Left back:

Bernard - not the best, but will mean Boca can play CB, and surely would be better than Boca...

Konchesky - been unsettled at Charlton for a time...

    a CB:
Henchoz, hmmm i have never rated him, in fact i have always thought he was rubbish! so thats a no...

Richards i think is our best bet, however he surely wont be fit for a while...

Maybe try to steal Unsworth off Pompey (or is he a LB only?) then stick him in the LB section!

    a CM:

We need some experience in the middle:

*dons flame proof mask* Phil Neville would do a great job for us but that is slightly unrealistic...

Savage is more likely, but again not going to happen...

Not really sure who we could bring in here, maybe Gary Speed - but again Bolton need him...

At forward heres some players that maybe would play for Fulham.

Derek Riordan-Scored 11 goals in the SPL.

Jason Roberts-Plays for Wigan has like 12 goals in the Championship but, did do really well against the US when they played Grenada.

Soloman Kalou-Plays for Feynoord. Probably wouldnt go to Fulham and probably cost alot of money.

    Left sided Midfielders

Eddie Lewis-Played for Fulham before. He is doing really well in the Championship for PNE.

    Left Back

Olivier Bernard-Isnt really that much better than Boca but, if Fulham can get this player then Boca can move into the central of defense which would mean a better defense.

    Central Defense

This is where Fulham need the help the most. Boca could help alot if they get a left back. There are so many players that Fulham can get that would help the team.

Players that Fulham should put in the first team from the Reserve team.

Elvis Hammond-He hasnt really gotten a chance yet and he should. Then only time he did get a chance this year in the first team he had an assist.

Liam Fontaine-He supposedly did well with Yeovil. He should get a chance at first team football.

Ross Flintney-So much talk about Fulham getting a keeper well what about letting Flintney getting a chance at first team?Maybe he can do really well and Fulham wouldnt have to spend money on a keeper.

Ismeal Ehui-He has done ok with the Reserve team. He has been scoring goals. He is only 18. But, John was also only 18 last year and he had 4 goals at the end of the season.

No thanks. If I am not mistaken he was at Fulham once already and I do not think he is the answer we are looking for.

This is something you do not do in the midst of a relegation battle in my opinion. Perhaps these players can play, but that is why there are Reserves games. Perhaps each can get a runout at sometime in the season, but I am thinking it may not be that smart to just throw youngsters out into a relgation fight. Perhaps I am wrong, which I am a lot, but that is not the way I would go.

Riorden, not heard of him, but come on give me a break, SPL! Hartson and Sutton set that place on fire!!

Roberts, he's been tried and tested, and failed at this level...(his teammate Ellington now theres a thought)

Lewis NO! been there done it, wasn't good enough for the T-shirt

    Hammond - YES
Fontaine - hmmm, maybe try him out..
Flitney - why? we have Cross, Edwin and a new guy comin in...
EHUI - mabye a couple of run outs, but he is only little, might struggle...

SPL isnt that bad if anything its right there with leagues like Brasil and Argentina(Which has had some great players come out of those leagues).Baptista might be the answer as far as Fulhams keeper problems but, he is only 18.VDS might not be at Fulham next year and Crossley is 35.Hammond deserves his chance at the Premiership.Or at least get him to a Championship team on Loan same with Ehui.Lewis is a good player. I mean not to start but, just on the bench. Why dosent Fulham go after Moreintes. Really LFC are trying to get him for 6 mil thats it. He could score 20 a year and has played in the CL and proved he could score against some of the best defenses in Europe.

I think Morientes would be great but i think his ego is a bit too big to come to a 'small' club like fulham... :?

What about Wayne Routledge? He has rejected a new contract from Palace maybe this would be a good player to get if Steed leaves the club.Hes only 19 and has played good football in the Premiership this year.

Routledge may not be a bad idea. Any ideas how much Palace will ask for him?

Right now Palace would probably ask for about 4 mil. 4 mil is alot of money because he is not really the same kind of class as Steed but, since Palace are at the bottom half of the table and hes their 2nd best player he would be at 4 mil.

I have not seen Sam Parker play but his stats are decent. 57 goals in 104 games. That is a little more than 1 every two matches. Now, the question will be whether he can cut it in the Premiership. Only time will tell. Has anyone seen him play and if so what did you think? Can he cut it in the Premiership?
I do like the Thatcher signing. I am not sure on Mark Fish yet.

I don't like it... unless he's under 21 - but Parkin's near 24 - why do we want to bring in someone from 2 divisions down?

Sorry, folks...I dont even want to see a 2nd div over 23 player in MLS, again, we've seen some before. Unless he's seasoned enough to ALSO coach. And THAT would just be ONE division up.

In going through stats, I'd rather take a chance on Cresswell!

Why would Fulham want Parkin? He plays for Swindon I mean its hard for a Championship player to do well in the Premiership. Why would Fulham want Fish? Goma is coming back Boca is going to central defense if Fulham are gonna get a central defender they should get a quality player like Henchoz.Thatcher is a good move though because Boca is now a central defender and they get a good Left Back. The keeper that Fulham might get played in the UEFA Cup he could be a good player.Really Fulham havent done all that great in this tansfer window. They are going after players that are either not that good or dont have that much experience in a top league.

I know I am going to sound like a broken record, but I am not sure I am understanding why you are saying we have done so bad in January. True, we have not brought any big names in or and great moves, but we did resign Boa Morte, we are seemingly on the verge of resigning Eddie Van Der Sar, Steed is probably not going anywhere, and we are getting a decent experienced left back in Ben Thatcher.

The names we are being linked to may not be the best, but in January teams are always overpaying for players and I do not want Fulham to overspend for players. We should avoid relegation this season. Being nine points up is a lot at this point. While we do need help in some areas, I do not see why we should break the bank to get them right now.

Getting players in January is a difficult thing to do for many clubs like Fulham. For those of you that think we have had a bad January, can you tell me why? What players would you go after?

If you would have told me at the beginning of January we would have our three best players still on the team, I would have said you were crazy. But, it looks as though we are not going to lose anyone of importance in January. That is a win for the club right there.

My theory is to pick up a player or two like Thatcher and maybe Fish and survive relegation this season. Once we get to the summer, then we can fix things up on the team. In addition, we have had so many players hurt this season, we have to get them a chance to prove their worth in the second half of the season.

January has not been wonderful, but to say it has been bad is not accurate in my opinion. We are not Arsenal, Chelsea or Man United in the sense that we can buy anyone we want. We have to be selective and stay within a tight budget.

The month is not over, but so far we are doing okay. Relegation looks to be in our rearview mirror and good things are ahead for Fulham.

    Transfers

The only rumours we have heard are about players leaving and not any coming. To be honest this team needs help everywhere, the display at the back on Sunday was awful, Knight is no longer a rookie he as played as someone said 100 premier games, and the mistakes he made were just mind boggling, the lethargic way we were playing was unbelievable, and can only be put at the hands of the coaching staff, if you could not get fired up playing against the worse team in the league when can you. Boca as been treated unfairly he is a CB playing left back and is exposed week after week, and lets face it as become a cyincal chopper, he needs to be moved inside otherwise let him go where he can play his position. Steed as not done it this year and you could seethe frustartion manifest itself on sunday when he was injured he totally lost it on Volz, thats a bad sign of a team without a leader, we need a team leader preferably at the back, yes Goma and Pearce can come in but they are at best ordinary, Jensen in the middle another ordinary player. I have a suggestion here, and I think one that would boost us so much, just down the road there is a team who have a yong lad who i feel as been treated unfairly as well, if he plays on a regualr basis will be a World beater, but playing in an all star team he only gets the odd glimpse, but coming to a team who is no threat to his other club number one and where he would be the super star and guaranteed of first team football against the top teams in the land he could blossom, why does Cookie not go to Chelsea and ask about having Joe Cole on loan for the rest of the season, with the understandig he would not play against them when we play them next, he would be close at hand to his team and would get the match fitness he needs and on a personal note he would get the chance to show his boss and the England boss what he really can do, his probably going to be sold at the end of the season anyway, so who loses here, and if you never ask you never get.

If Steed and VDS stay at Fulham then it would be a good January as far as keeping players. But, as far as getting players to come to Fulham it is a bad January.Fulham needs help in Central Defense,Left Back,Forward,Central Midfielder, Right side Midfielder. Pembridge is an ok player but, he is 33 and Clark is 32. Fulham need a forward. Cole is one game 2 goals then the next 3 weeks no goals. Mcbride dosent score goals. John has 2 goals all season. Radz is scoring goals but, really some matches dosent do anything.Steed might stay but, this is only because he is injured. Fulham should try and get Routledge.Fulhams biggest problem is central defense. Knight isnt inexperinced.Hes been playing in the Premiership for like 3 seasons. Rehman has done ok but, has made mistakes. Fulham needed a Left Back and really has done well by getting Thatcher. So with so many places Fulham needed to get players they have got 1 player.

While I do agree with you in saying we need help in a lot of areas, I do not think January is the place or time to get all of these people. Our selection of players to sign is thin, and teams usually over pay for players in January. Palace wants 4 mil for Routledge. He is not worth that kind of money.
I think a signing or two will be great to survive relegation and then in the summer we can sort it all out and get some new blood in here. If we are healthy, on paper, we have a good team. Whether the whole team is ever healthy at the same time is doubtful, but who knows.

Routledge might leave Palace for 3 mil maybe less.If Fulham were to say 2 mil and a player Palace would probably sell.It dosent have to be a great player it could be a reserve or a player that never really gets to play.Every player that Fulham have said to be going after has signed with another team or stayed at their club.
