because i was born in B'more and I'm stuck with them no matter how much they suck.

I also like the cubs because they were always on on the afternoon while i was growing up and i'd entertain myself with harry carey impersonations.

Good topic. I am a die hard Cubs fan. I live in Chicago and grew up about two hours south of here. They have been bad for a long time, but times are a changin' here on the North Side. While Beltran is a good player, I am glad the Cubs did not give him the kind of money the Mets did. He is not worth the 7 year 119 million. The Mets will still suck and I love it!

    Easy!

    The Reds!

And not just because they're my "Home" team... because they're the "Whitman's Sampler" of Baseball.

You name the problem/issue/highlight/success/failure.. they've been there and done that!

Have had the best and worst:
Players/teams/games/managers/front office/ownership/scandals/ballparks/fans/announcers*... everything BUT the long drought unless you want to count '19 to '75

    * Amazingly, Joe Nuxhall has been both "Best and Worst"

    The Yankees...

... and sometime I hate admitting it becuz of crazy George's spending addiction. I'm glad they didnt get Beltran.

I used to say I was stuck being a Yanks fan while they sucked, but '96 was truly a magical year, I will forever love my '96 team.

    Okay..I'll bite.

When was it they "sucked", erm, I mean underachieved more than usual!

Anyone who "loves" the Yankees outside of NYC metro area may be considered ManU material!

the California Angels(never took to the "anaheim" name),

why? hard to say- i grew up 1/2 way between dodger stadium & anaheim stadium & most of my friends were dodger fans who couldn't understand why i liked the angels..... the dodgers had all the championships, huge crowds- all the press- the angels had none of that but i loved going to their games- (maybe same kind of feeling some of the english fulham fans have to fulham & why they don't support chelsea?)

Nolan Ryan was awesome & my dad was good enough to take me most nights he pitched. in the 1980's gene autry opened his pocket books & signed some big stars but the angels were still snakebit & couldn't win the big one. Finally 2002 came & 35 years of support were rewarded!!

The Yanks were terrible throughtout the 80's, I had stars like Righetti, Winfield, Henderson, & MATTINGLY.... but they never seemed to jive.

Its was hard to see that happen, the 90's were ok, up til '95, when Ken Griffrey broke my heart, but in 1996 simply was one of the most magical teams in World Series History. I hate the dynasty talk, love to see them win, but hate hearing people complain about it. Steinbrenner is truly the only FANS owner out there, he could care less about the billions he could have made the past 10 years, but he puts in back into the team, and tries to produce winners every year. It seems unfair, and I hate the bulldog mentality. I would much rather see homegrown talent like in 96 win it for us instead of signing 40 year old multimillion dollar free agents.

I had my day, and I will continue to love them regardless. Mets fan should hate the mets front office for not spending the cash they have to do the same or at least similar. After all its a business, and the most important thing is the fans.

why are the mets thinkig throwing out all this money
no way they are going to account to much
as we have seen in the past, the mets dont spend their money well
MO VAUGHN? Yes they are still paying him 17 million and he isnt playing!
My cleveland indians are building up from the farm system and watch out i think they will make the playoffs this year
lots of young talent might turn into the indians of 8 years ago

The indians can make a serious run, a few veteran free agents can teach those kids how to win.... good show.

I am not a huge fan, but I have a feeling the White Sox might get it done this season on that AL Central. I like the moves GM Kenny Williams has made and I think this is a very winnable division. The Indians and Twins will be good for sure too. I am not just saying this about the Sox as a Chicagoan, but as a baseball fan. Hell, I am a Cub fan and being that, I cannot like both teams.

O's have the worst owner in baseball...he didn't spend a damn dime this offseason and the team isn't at all better this year after improving greatly last year.

i'm sick of finishing third behind the yanks and sox

    lets go CUBS

    Yeah. Go Tribe !
The addition of a quality pitcher in Kevin Millwood will really help as we have been notouriously bad in this are in past few years. C.C. is the ace but I believe that if Millwood is healthy then he can win 10+ games. Juan 'Going...going...' Gonzalez can also do the business and Aaron Boone has good pedigree. Go Tribe !

Would just like to point out at this point in the season that the Baltimore Orioles are 17-7 and sit comfortable in first place in teh AL East with the second best record in baseball

    Just want to point out.

Since MLB went to the three team and wild card format, the teams in first place on Memorial day went to the playoffs 70% of the time.

So this year we'd be looking at

    AL:

    Orioles
    White Sox
    Rangers

    NL
    Marlins
    Cardinals
    Padres

Glad to see there's some parity starting to emerge as the dominant teams are starting to age quickly.

anyone see the dumbass yankee fan fall onto hte net last night. It was a dare, he said the net would support him and his friends dared that it wouldn't. So he jumped from the upper deck. His face right afterwards was priceless, I think he should have checked himself after that.
