Oh no! What would the World Cup be without Suarez? Who is going to bite & racially abuse the other players, flip-off the fans, dive, provide blatant handballs, and in general be annoying looking?

After your Boston/Cape Cod trip last summer Brazil would have been a let down :D

LVG has made his final cuts to the Dutch side for Brazil. Two of the names caught my eye, Swansea keeper Michel Vorm and Norwich City's Leroy Fer. Been impressed with Vorm since he and Swans were promoted a couple of seasons ago, although he seems to be hurt a lot. Got to see Fer during our trip to the Cottage, and he got my attention with some of his dribbling and passing skills in space. Doubt either of them will see much of the pitch, but I like both players, enough to wish they were Fulham possibilities. Maybe, someday, before their hair turns gray, or they lose it...

The Sunday Times is reporting that there is prime evidence of bribery directly connected to the choice of Qatar for 2022. This is no surprise, but perhaps it's enough to award that tournament to some other country -- you know, one with a real league and a June-July temperature under 300 degrees.

Yes. This selection has made no sense (except for the fatter pockets of some folks) since its inception. If there was any additional evidence required to move this WC to the US, then this should be it. Sadly, I think nothing will change despite whatever else comes about as well. It's all f#$%@#$ up.

It seems that the Italian 23-man squad does NOT contain a Mr. G. Rossi. He started at #9 in their last warmup, but evidently did not impress.

Well, at least he played for his beloved Azzuri -- if not on the world stage. It would have been nice to pair him with Jozy up front, but ... .

I think Australia had a good bid for that Cup, they should host it...if they still want it.

I agree despite that their bid presentation to FIFA was too light and pop, for lack of better adjectives, they should and could host with short notice. They haven't hosted a WC yet and if FIFA still wants to take the Cup to new areas of the world Australia is the obvious choice.

The Qataris will spend whatever they have to to make it work. If that includes enclosing and HVACing every bloody venue, then they will do it.

I've been there. Spent six beautiful months over the Summer of 2010. It is 120 degrees in the shade and about 80% humidity in June/July. It is the second most miserable place as far as weather went I've been...

    Cheers,

    Steve

Watched the first half of the Mexico-Bosnia tilt on ESPN2 last night (El Tri on ESPN, don'tcha know). Also saw some of the Bosnians match against Ivory Coast in St. Louis prior to that. I gotta say, they will not be an easy out in Brazil. In fact, if they can handle the climate, they might be a legitimate dark horse contender for the final. They made the Mexicans look pretty bad in the first half, and with the quality of Dzeko at one end and Begovic at the other, you gotta think they could win some games nobody thinks they should.

Seems to me that we handled them quite handily IN their country.
