Down to the Basics on CO2 and 'warming'

Why even HS scientists shouldnt believe the Alarmist basic premise

It occurs to me after my rant about the pseudo science that it just makes the normal person's eyes glaze. Mainly because I make a lot of assumptions on what the average person ought to know and what the Warmists dont want you to think about.

so let's start from scratch.
What I learned as a sharecropper farm kid. {Yeah, in the north they are called 'Tenant Farmers' but alla same!}

1. CO2 in the air is fertilizer. Plants absorb it, and with photosynthesis, store the carbon in their structure. Release Oxygen.
2. There is no such thing as agricultural waste and the worst disposal of it is burning it. The best use {straw, corncob} was bedding for livestock ending in spreading on crop fields, both fertilizing and loosening the soil.
What I learned SINCE becoming interested in this issue:
How much CO2 is there? visualized best by putting 10,000 pennies on your dining room table. Take out 4 pennies. Those 4 pennies represent the 400 parts per million (PPM) CO2 concentration in our air. It is actually a vital 'Trace Gas'.

Pretend 400 is 'Too Much' and put back 1 penny. Feel smug that you saved the planet. WRONG. Shortly all plant life of higher orders will die leaving one cell plants to struggle with adapting.
- SCIENCE says this happens at anything less than 165 PPM. Most plant life still stunted and struggling but survives.

So CO2 is obviously a greenhouse gas. In fact, it's called that partially because green house growers use it for enhancing growth. Not for raising apparent temperature in the greenhouse.

But the other meaning is that CO2 gas absorbs, "Blocks"{ remember those quotes} certain wavelenghts of Infrared light. referred to as 'Long Wave Infrared'. It really is 'sensible heat', meaning you cant see it but you can feel it.

Experiment: After you fry your morning bacon and turn off the skillet, extend the back of your hand toward the skillet and at the side of it.
That heat you feel is LWIR as opposed to the heat you feel from your hand OVER the skillet which is air convection.
Now pretend your hand is a virtual 'CO2" molecule.
Step two: Find a pyrex pan lid and hold it between your hand and the skillet. Notice you no longer feel 'heat'. even though the lid is clear.
The glass is actually absorbing some of the sensible infrared but reflecting most of it.

Why is this important? For SEVERAl reasons that you should remember, which I'll address later. But right now because it renders moot the most egregious and pernicious pseudo-science about CO2 and warming.
"Any High School student can do this experiment!"
In fact Al Gore and fellow idiot Bill Nye "the science guy" {sorry for the invective but Nye truly deserves it!} attempted it live and couldnt without fudging and video cuts. Leaving it toskeptic Anthony Watts to actually complete it for them, WITH the results they wanted to show.
Here's another bullshit science experiment which actually proves nothing but to make the 'experimenter' feel smart while looking stupid to someone who understands the physics at all. Do you see the basic fallacies? There are two of them. Or three depending on your viewpoint.

- The thing is We dont live in a bell jar, terrarium or pyrex dish. We live on a ball with a thin skin of gases enveloping it.
Stand at the high point anywhere on earth, and gaze straight ahead, not up, not down, and you are looking into space.
That's an awesome concept.

So why is that important? There IS NO DOME of any kind above our planet.
ALL radiation absorbed by a molecule ends up as 'heat', then reradiates. That's what we refer to as 'cooling'. Even clouds at night do not 'trap' or 'reflect' the heat absorbed at noon day sun. They absorb the long wave infrared and reradiate it in all directions. Delaying the surface level air cooling but sooner or later, that heat ends up in space. Not just by convection {heated air rising} but by reradiating in all directions.. ultimately from an altitude where most goes to space
So the fight is over the solar heat absorbsion/reradiation budget and how it works.

Remember then, that CO2 is only a small part of our air but water vapor is a lot. Why we feel hotter in high humidity. We're feeling our own body heat, reradiated, disregarding the cooling effect of evaporating perspiration. {that's important, too.. remember that}

The warmer's premise is that CO2 reradiating heat causes a chain reaction resulting in more water vapor in the air, calling that a positive feedback. Which would be, ignoring the third law of thermodynamics, true.
There's the rub.
We all have learned from experience that water transition from liquid to vapor cools the surface on which it occurs.
This effect REALLY gets complicated but the more complications addressed, the more the warmers are refuted, we'll just keep it simple.

Warmer's Claim is that re-radiation of LWIR to a body of water creates more water vapor, creating more re-radiation of heat, creating more water vapor. Sounds good, right?

Yep. Until you remember that evaporation cools the surface on which it occurs. And that LWIR does not penetrate liquid water to any extent.
If it DID, it wouldnt evaporate much, would it!

Remember this when you hear someone claim that the heat from the rise in CO2 {Ref the warming 'PAUSE'} is 'hidden' in the depths of the ocean.
What heat and how did it get there? Uhh.. 'Wave action? Yeah.. so you're saying CO2 affects wave action?

So far we've ignored Climate Change / weather preferring to address some of the basics. Later I'll even get to WHY Venus is so hot and why its CO2 is so high . NOT just that it's closer to the sun.
Note that I am not formally trained in any of this.. just curious about how things work and really get disgusted when people who are supposed to be expert come out with bullshit where they out to know better.
And those who will profit for themselves at the expense of others who trust them.
