And there we have the best use of "coming up milhouse" I've seen...well...possibly ever.

I've thought about it and have figured it out that if I drag myself out of bed at 5:30 am to watch us play Everton, there's absolutely no way the team will win. However, if I don't get up for the game, there's at least a chance of a "damn, sorry I missed it" result. Therefore I'm going to do my part to support the team and not get up for the game. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I'll be at my preferred house of worship, praying for, amongst other things, a Fulham result. Miracles do happen, ya' know. Just not as often or as regular as those cited in the scriptures. But then again, this isn't really life or death, is it? Why does it feel like it is, though? Better pray harder, sing louder, listen more intensely to the sermon and take copious, well outlined bulletin notes. But if I were like sacffc, and the crew call time was 0530, I'd probably be adding a big :text-+1:

If you're going the religious route, I believe it says "the meek shall inherit the Earth" and they don't come any more meek than Fulham. Bit of a reach, but I guess you could find hope in that.

Surprised to hear you're off the Johnnie Walker, Nev, as I was attributing the Tiffany reference earlier in the week to the sauce. Now I'm just worried about you.

    I've been grasping at straws this whole thread to generate a little hope (in myself mostly), so might as well do it again!! SInce the game is being played tomorrow, might as well bust out the 'Greatest Speech from a bad movie' ever, After all anything can happen on any given Sunday;

I guess after a sober "Tiffany" reference I should be worried too. I think I'm switching to Stoli.

Hey i get that. It's why I decided in the middle of the Crew's 2008 season {The first since 1996 I didnt have season tix} to not go to ANY games, since I hadn't already.
    And it worked.

I feel sorry for the lads, they where fighting today and did play well for a long time, the first goal could be blamed on Stockdale, cus he shouldnt had gone for the ball at first place, but he did a great match throughout with great saves!

The second goal was simply poor deffending, Third goal should never had stand, first hand ball second the player giving the balkl to Naysmith was offside.

They fought hard today and you saw Holtby was genuine dessapointed after the match was sitting still on the pitch. But again I refuse to think we go down until its mathematically impossible.

We improve every game, and Norwich we will beat if we play like today Villa we will beat! Tottenham can be anything, they are so unpredictable, Hull we can beat, Stoke we can beat, Palace we can beat!!

I refuse to give up! I refused in 08, i refuse now! COYW!!!

I really want to have hope for the remaining games, but I wonder if getting my hopes crushed every weekend is a good thing. Not so much. But it's good to see us playing the game properly again with some young, fresh faces. If anything, at least we'll win more games next season, regardless of which division we're in.

BTW, feel free to join in the chat on gamedays K33NY, http://www.fulhamusa.com/index.php/chat-room. A number of us usually get our weekend Fulham fix there and try to enjoy the rest of the day or weekend by blocking out what just happened--at least if it's a loss (which is a pretty regular experience this season).

I, too, reside in the Pacific time zone and did awaken to watch today's match. You can only shrug your shoulders and shake your head, wondering what might have been had we played with this much energy and spirit against sides in the lower half of the table to whom we conceded so many points this season (yes, Sunderland, I'm talking about you).

The match commentators handed out lots of plaudits to our side, especially in the first half. But what this match proved again - to me, at least - is how huge the talent gap is between the top 7 or 8 teams and everybody else in the PL. We need good fortune as well as good effort to get any points against that lot. But too often we've played down to, even below, the level of the PL's second tier so we languish at the foot of the table, with little likelihood of rising much less escaping. Rats!

Energy and effort notwithstanding, our defense is still comical. You don't get points for playing hard and well. You get points for scoring more goals than the other team. We just can't do that, especially against teams so near the top of the table with talent like Everton's. I just hope we can score a few more goals anyway this season, and beat some of the teams closer to our end of the standings that we should beat. Relegation is a foregone conclusion. The only variable is time.

Those last two goals by Everton were the gut-punch for me and my son. While I've maintained hope, a miracle is needed at this point to stay up.

But, we did get to see our favorite Iranian since Mosaddegh score again.

This. I keep seeing people say we played well against Everton and were unlucky to lose. Here are the numbers.
    Possession - EFC 62 FFC 38
    Shots - EFC 14 FFC 23
    On Target - EFC 7 FFC 8
    Goals - EFC 3 FFC 1
Against a better team, with better attacking options, you can't play them even on chances and expect a result. You certainly can't do it when you routinely lose the battle in midfield. And that's w/o looking at the true quality of the chances. Unlucky? Nothing more than a reflection of fan bias. It's pretty sad when we're reduced to grading the team on the E for Effort scale. Even sadder when we've failed on that scale for most of the season as well.
