It's pretty clear to me, at least, that we're "enjoying" our last couple of months in the Premier League. With the prospect of very few televised games and the fact that there'll be plenty of Prem football on NBCSN and other sources, who will still be actively following Fulham next season? Who will …

    a. forgo watching a Prem match live in favor of listening to Gentleman Jim?
    b. still be interested in purchasing Fulham kit and paraphernalia [which should be cheaper next season :D ]
    c. continue to be club members and keep FulhamUSA as an official supporters' club?
    d. continue to frequent this forum?

I will do all four, but I would hate to lose this site -- the only Fulham site left that combines good insights with intelligence, humor, and friendliness.

I know you've been considering this; what do you all think?

I will definitely do a. and d. Previously I did b. an c. for my kids but now that they have become glory hunters, I will only purchase Fulham stuff when it's something I really like. I dont buy much stuff for myself and the Fulham paraphernalia I already have is pretty hard to beat. If I take a trip to England, I will definitely catch a Fulham match over any premier league to-do-da. Nevzter pretty much summed it up with COYW

    Great thread idea HD, and add-on from Mo :cool: (I think that was a new record this morning). If the dreaded 'R' word happens;

    A) Yep on listening to GJ. I have a buddy who is a ManUre fan and he asked who am I going to root for next season, and I replied the one that won't be shown on tv. I will still watch the Prem if it's a great matchup, but the consumption will decrease big time if Fulham isn't in it.

    B) Haven't seen a jersey I would want to buy for a few seasons, so what it looks like is more important that what division they play in.

    C) In

    D) In. Besides where else am I gonna to argue with Matt about college football?

    E) I've been having ideas pop into my head about going to Home Depot and look at tile samples.

As I said on Terri's FB post the other day when she asked about advise on dealing w relegation. I said "Crappy internet video feeds of the Championship here we come. At least we will have Gentleman Jim to listen too." I have not totally given up hope, there are still enough teams we can catch.

A Most likely listen to GJ w a crappy feed if avalable

B depends on if I like the stuff they have for sale or not. I won't buy anything thing just for the sake of buying.

    C+D definatly

I honestly don't know the answers to a—d.

As I've written here and elsewhere, I'm grown extremely disillusioned by (toward? with?) the game and league and everything else. So there's one strike.

Second, if the only options to follow the team is through GJ I'm even closer to not following. [It's 2014. Why, why, why are there no extensive video options//moronic Luddite black out laws? I can watch a lacrosse game between Vermont & Providence College; or a basketball game between Loyola & Holy Cross (who?) and yet not the 10th best attended soccer league? Huh?!?] So there's another strike.

Chances are I'll follow with one eye in the summer, and then by late fall periodically just check the score. If the FA/Football League/team doesn't want to do everything it can to reach it's audiences then I don't see the point in going out of my way to pay attention.

I think it will be easy for the first season to do a-d. I think the question will be after what we see the chairman do next season to get them back up or if he will be content with a Championship level team. I feel like I've earned my stripes after going this weekend and can now lay claim to FFC being my team. I'm sure I will still watch Prelim matches though, especially Americans in EPL.

Most likely, out of sight = out of mind. I'll certainly keep up with this forum and a few blogs, plus ESPN for results and tables. I don't purchase kits or other stuff - what I bought at the Cottage in Sept 2007 still fits, after all.

As for A, it depends. If the team is competitive in the top 3rd of the Championship, I'll listen to GJ from time to time. But for those of us who came to football later in life, watching a game is far more engaging than listening to an account of it, even if you don't have a dog in the fight.

What saddens me most about FFC's free-fall towards the drop is that it didn't have to happen. Too little investment for too long - yes, by MAF, too - plus a dreadful manager hire put us at a disadvantage even among the "small" clubs that are competing for 7th or 8th place, at best. My real fear is that FFC's free-fall will continue all the way to League One, with no clear path back.

I plan on doing A. We should be on tv 5-6 times next season, so in a sense, this will be more like the beginning of my following FFC. Hopefully, if we're in the mix for a promotion/playoff spot we'll get a few extra tv games in the spring. I'm not a fan of football on the radio so I don't know how much I'll partake of those matches. It would be smart for the club to do a "FulhamTV" type deal and use a couple of cameras to broadcast with no audio, but synched to Jim's broadcast. Not sure if that's an option with Sky's current deal.

Haven't done B&C in the last several years for several reasons. I may buy more gear at some point, but I didn't find the Int'l membership to be good value for money (or even close) so I doubt I'll do that again unless it changes significantly.

I plan on doing D as well. There hasn't been a lot of FFC talk around here this year and we're still on tv and in the Prem. I don't facebook, so maybe there's more there and I'm missing out on it. Truth is, I've grown rather disillusioned with FFC over the last couple of seasons. So while I'll probably always root for them and keep up with results, like Bill said, out of sight, out of mind. I can't promise that won't happen with me. As for the site, FFC isn't the only conversation filling the pages, so I'll stick around for those, the occasional chat rooms and of course to banter with you guys, as long as Heather is willing to keep this thing running.

I just started supporting Fulham this year and have been lurking in this forum for a couple months. I've really appreciated getting all of the details on Fulham from the regular posters.

Last year when I heard the Premier League would be on NBC I wanted to find a team to support. For a variety of reasons Fulham seemed like a good fit (same colors as my son's team, same owner as my fav football team, same history of limited success as the Jags, and the logo looked similar to one I did for the family website "France Family Central" years ago, plus in another forum people agreed Fulham fans weren't jerks). However, if I had been reading Hatter Don's outlook on the team last year I might have decided to go with Everton instead!

But I chose Fulham and unless they win half of the next 10 games it seems like cheering for Fulham won't help me enjoy the Premier League next year. I keep thinking...

At this point who else would I support? It is hard for me to imagine cheering for another team now. I listen to Gentleman Jim most weeks and that more than anything as gotten me emotionally connected to the team. He sounds so defeated when we get into the second half of our recent fixtures - I share his pain.

Hopefully we'll see a miracle finish over the next 10 games, but if not I think I'll still be attached. I expect to be in London for the first time in 2015 and even if Fulham isn't in the Premier League, I still want to visit Craven Cottage.

Thanks again to all of you for helping me get familiar with Fulham. COYW!

 Welcome to the site MicahMan, glad you started posting. We can always use some more classic movie references in regards to Fulham. We seem to enjoy those on this site.

Well, after the World Cup, and Fulham are indeed playing in the Championship, I am ditching everything. No more Fulham, no more soccer. I am going to devote my entire time to remodeling my kitchen and I am not stopping there. I am going to tear the entire house down and rebuild with Vance and his kids, because they've been given a bad rap on the Internet and they need a big pick me up...So adios muchachos.

    *You know I'm kidding.

    Welcome Micah.

I can only offer these words of (measured) optimism. I started supporting Fulham late in 2007, watched them fall down the table, replace their manager, and then achieve the miraculous Great Escape.

I can only hope the same happens for you (and for all of us).

As for me, it's admittedly hard to say. My days as a Fulham supporter have largely been the salad days of extensive TV coverage. For that reason (and for the whole 7am start time thing here), I'll frequently set my DVR and watch matches on an hour-or-so delay. I think I'd have a hard time shifting to listening to GJ on a regular basis. Most likely, I'd tune in on key matches, or when match start times fall more into my regular daily routine. I'd certainly make a point of watching on the occasion they're televised.

As for continued official club membership or buying merch, I think I'd likely dial back.

Try to keep me away from this place, though. If anything, this forum would be even more important and vital, and I'd want to see it continue.

As I've stated before somewhere amongst these glorious pages, I despise to the highest degree possible, fair weather, bandwagon sports team fanatics. It's been something that's bothered me since some of my childhood Little League friends abandoned the Cardinals for the Big Red Machine in early '70's. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. Relegation be damned. Fulham 'til I DIE! EFF MANURE! EFF SCUM! EFF SCOUSERS! EFF CITEH! EFF SPUDS! EFF WET SPAM! EFF GOONERS! MARMALARD'S A DEAD MAN! NIEDERMAYER, DEAD! DEAN WORMER, DEAD!

    (sorry, got carried away).

I'm going to Craven Cottage on April 12th and I'm going to enjoy EVERY BLOODY SECOND OF IT! And I'm going to LOVE IT, when they win the effin' Championship next year and exact their revenge on all the above mentioned S.O.B.'s and their high and mighty fan bases and well- heeled owners, and bring them to their bloody knees!

    THE COTTAGERS SHALL RETURN!
