Oh, I've already started remodeling.

 

No, not yet. But I'm painting a room in my house. The fumes make me feel better. :confusion-seeingstars:

No, you're not alone. I started out by picking up a nice Bulgarian alabaster tile that had a good reputation. But halfway through the remodel, we were having trouble making it fit and it became clear that it was a little too old and wasn't going to work out. Fortunately I had some car parts money left, so I picked up an expensive, olive tile from Greece with a bit of a graffiti looking pattern on it. It's a little crazy and unpredictable though, so I'm not sure if it's going to work either. Right about that time, word spread through my neighborhood that our housing value was likely to be cut in half, so I may have to send those back for a refund. We'll see. Fortunately, I had picked up a nice dark cocoa tile from France on the cheap some time back, that I've been holding in reserve just in case.

Unfortunately, we can't seem to keep any kind of draft out of the kitchen and it's causing all sorts of problems with the remodeling process. I probably should have addressed that first. I did manage to change out the weather stripping around one window, but I know that won't fix the problem.

Hopefully I didn't hang myself with these decisions and this project won't crash and burn. I doubt I get rich, reither though.

 

There's something about a nice, Tuscan tile that just says fughetaboutit.*

You're probably right. I'll have to see when I open the box on Sunday. Probably doesn't matter though. I'm just about positive that I hired the wrong contractor for the job, so it's likely all for naught.

 

I heard that tile cutter you rented from the USA was messing up the tiles and making the job more difficult. You probably should have just purchased a European one.

 

Well.. I think I get the drift. I shortcut it by throwing shoes {softly} at HGTV re-mod shows.

Especially the 'Love it or List it' ones where Hilary appears.

If you see her coming up your walk, hide and dont answer the door. What an idiot.. keeps doing those 80 year old houses and seems surprised and distraught when the contractors find probs that have to be fixed.
Informed DIY is the answer there. And relatives to 'help' you.

 

It's gets really bad when you look at all the inane #isitjustme comments on Twitter (like I just did, obviously just for the purposes of this post, ahem). Amongst the things I do that I'm almost certain nobody else does: When visiting people's houses I tighten all the loose knob screws on the back of kitchen cabinet doors with a screwdriver, for personal peace of mind, and tell nobody...
