Choosing an NFL team?

I am a Cowboys fan - from birth. Not a choice.
Our current owner has made a mockery of the team - just hoping I live longer than he does......

If I was picking - would go with the New Orleans Saints. Great city to visit. Good fans. Funky tradition - lots of bad years, but much better recently (with a recent championship as well). Unique colors.
Warm weather.

Steelers have a well-run franchise, and I wish the Cowboys' ownership would learn from them. That said - they have more championships than anybody, and I have a hard time liking teams like that.

Avoid Cleveland like the plague - unless you want endless misery. Poor Browns fans - they deserve better. They will never win. Ever. So sad.

I'm looking for the Fulham of the NFL.

Since the financial playing field is level, I guess it comes down to how you define Fulham, or what aspects of Fulham you're looking for. To me, the Packers would be the closest thing to Fulham in the NFL. They are community owned. They seem to put more focus on a family friendly environment, particularly at a time when the prevalence of crass and vulgar fans at NFL games is increasing. They have a long history, place a strong value on tradition, have a fabled stadium, and, being the only team not in a major city, they have a unique atmosphere and feel. They also have quite a following across the country and have sold out every game since 1960. So they have passionate fans, but getting to see the team play at home might prove quite difficult. The one big difference is that they have won Championships (4) and, of course, the trophy is named after one of their former coaches.

All that said, they don't meet two of your requirements. They don't field a professional cheerleading unit (they use college cheerleaders, male and female) and they are about as far from warm weather as you can get.

 

The hirings and firings at Fulham far surpass anything the Browns have done. Looks like it's written in the stars Westchester, you are a Browns fan. Resistance is futile.

Mo, I'm not going turn this into a Pittsburgh-Cleveland thread, just going to give WW some accurate info, so will respond to some of the things you wrote. Again, Im a Seattle fan, not the Steelers, and don't have anything against any team from Cleveland (great fans who deserve a title). I haven't drank the Steeler kool-aid my wife gave me, just followed the NFL for 40 years of respect Pittsburgh's organization (plus, had a great time, going to a game).

• Rothiesberger has never been charged with any crime, so to throw around the word 'rapist' on multiple occasions isn't exactly accurate. As far as the Steelers 'worshiping' him, they fired his favorite offensive coordinator (Bruce Arians, the current Cardinals coach) to send him a message that they wanted to get back to running the ball and he could either get with the program or get shipped out. As he being the 'dirtiest' player, you must be thinking of some other list, since I've never seen a quarterback make any one of the lists ever. That usually goes to offensive lineman (Richie Incognito was the reigning champ for this dubious award for multiple years before that whole mess in Miami went down) or defensive backs (Rodney Harrison was voted multiple times, Meriweather of the Deadskins is at the top of the current list).
•The Steelers aren't the ManUre of the NFL (just because they've won Super Bowls). They've never built their teams by buying players, but do it by the draft and having a culture that stresses the Steeler Way. Blue collar team, from a blue collar town.
• As far as 'family clubs' go, The Packers, Steelers, and Giants are top of the list. Green Bay because of the reasons Matt wrote about, and the other two teams because the Mara's (Giants) and Rooneys are family owned and have been integral in building the league.
• WW, the Mara's back in the 1960's were the key ownership that then Commissioner Pete Rozelle got on board to revenue share. They could have said no, but for the the good of the league they went along with reducing their own bottom line, and why today every team has hope.
• As stated, the best course of action is to probably holdout and watch next season. Perhaps even planning on attending a game or 2 (we have 'legalized' touting over here aka stub hub, where you can get a ticket to any stadium for any game).
