    The X factor for me so far this post season has been Seattle's defense. Defense wins championships. They're gonna win. And then they're gonna win the Super Bowl.

    To this I don't know, but he did go to Stanford and he is a damn good football player when all is said and done.

    Why the Niners would throw his way in the closing moments, when ol' Sherman had been avoided all day, is a mystery.

    Oh, and when a guy sacrifices his knee (Bowman) on a clear fumble recovery but doesn't get the call....well, as a neutral I'd even tell the refs to go do something to themselves that is quite vulgar.

    Officiating didn't really decide the NFC game, but man, it wasn't very good either. Something needs to be done,err, make the officials actual full-time employees might be a good start.

    He's not a thug. He was a very good student . . . at Stanford no less. He just thrives on trash talking. Apparently if you make him shut up his game goes down the drain. Reminds me of this quote from Chariots of Fire,
    As for the game, I couldnt watch. I could see the soccer lines on the field and it just ruined the game for me. Had to turn it off.

    LOL!! Did you just do what I think you did, there?
    If so, WELL-PLAYED!

    Well, you'll notice I didnt venture MY opinion on who he really was.
    I DID notice on twitter that Erin Andrews wasn't all that upset and I also noted there were no 'bleeps' during the interview. Doesn't exactly reflect a "Compton Thug".
    So.. then I read his SI column.

    Well, paints a little different picture, doesn't it.

    But the kicker for me is ...
    John McCain slams ‘loudmouth’ Richard Sherman
    {Done Tuesday, btw}
    So I've picked a side...

    Maverick made up my mind.. I think I like Sherman.
    Still rooting for the Broncos, though.
    Dear Maverick;
    Thank you for your service and your fortitude and grit while suffering as a POW.
    And congrats on your achievements while running as the DNC choice for GOP Presidential candidate in 2008.

    But as reflected in most of your newsworthy statements, and now on the Richard Sherman kerfuffle, you are still a shallow thinking idiot.
    Sincerely, Pettyfog

    It's 1:15 AM on the left coast and I am wide awake waiting for the pork roast I'm braising to finish. Will in turn make chili verde out of that and expecting a boatload of people at the homestead for a pseudo American holiday. Normally in it for the food, drink, commercials (even though they've sucked the last few years), and general BS-ing with friends and family. For only the second time my team is playing, and considering the last time the Seahawks played in the SB my better half's favorite team (the Steelers) was also in it (just a wee bit of conflict of interest :roll: in the home) this is easily the biggest pro football game of my lifetime. No analysis going in, and to the Bronco fans on here good luck, and to all others who won't be enduring my hell, but enjoying their parties, cheers :eek:bscene-drinkingbuddies: GO HAWKS!!!!!

    Not sure I really have an interest in who wins, but I'll be watching. Perhaps I develop a rooting interest as the game progresses, most likely the Seahawks.

    Mmm...Chile Verde, what time does the party start, Joe?

    And here I thought pointy football coaches had given up teaching defense.

    Yesterday I watched my only NFL game of the season and found myself admiring the defensive prowess and discipline of Seattle. Maybe the best team defense I've seen played in years.

    Not Pete Carroll. He's an old college free safety, and began coaching wide receivers and secondary defense. Most of his assistant gigs appear to have involved coaching the secondary. Thus the point of emphasis on cornerbacks and safeties. And, man, do they have some!

    Congrats to the 'Hawks. Dominant.

    Seattle's defense hits...and hard. The best defenses have a mantra distilled to the basic fundamental of hitting hard. They do, and SF does as well. That NFC Championship game looks even better after that debacle last night. Respect to Seattle's play, and as HD indicated, they are a hard-hitting, complete defense.

    Joe? You still with us? We don't have to send out a search party, do we? Congrats on your team winning, just don't let your team make a habit out of it. ;)

    Thanks Heather, the way the salary cap is set up (barely paying Russell WIlson atm), and the division they play in, I don't think we'll make a habit of this, but I wouldn't mind :cool: . Unfortunately got the bad cold going around and basically slept yesterday (or was I just hungover? :shock: ). Not going to lie, this one goes down as one of my all time best sports memories, even though it had to be boring for the neutral. Speed kills, and Seattle's Defense overwhelmed Denver with speed and tackling. The defense was the first since the historic 1985 Bears that led the league in points allowed, yardage per game allowed, and turnovers :bow-yellow: Great points by Nev and Jump, Carroll specializes in secondary play and the Legion of Boom made the guys in orange pay a tax every time they caught the ball (Sherman gets the pub because he likes to talk, but Cam Chancellor and Earl Thomas are as good a safety combo anyone can name in any era). Feel great for the owner Paul Allen who also owns the Portland Trail Blazers and has given his heart, soul, and $$ to both franchises and finally got his championship. After 37+ years to finally to see the Lombardi Trophy going to the Emerald City....PRICELESS

    Well, I recorded the game but didnt watch it. Not even for the commercials, which from what I've seen of them on youtube were not ALL that trend setting.

    I do like to think about 'WHY' it was lopsided and I think it's partly because Manning {along with Elway} has always been overhyped.
    I began to wonder if it was not going to be 'unusual' when I followed the Sherman kerfuffle.
    The guy had the confidence, not the bragadoccio.
